  • Well-equipped Derbyshire touring site with easy access from the A517
  • A 10-minute drive to Ashbourne and the edge of the Peak District
  • Dog-friendly site a mile from Hulland Ward's village pub and farm shop
Parking up for the Peak District? Take your tourer off to Ashbourne Touring and Camping Park, a well-equipped park in a handy spot just off the A517 a mile from the village of Hulland Ward. Easy access from the main road means it’s nice and straightforward to get set up at this Derbyshire site – and that location also means you’ll be handily close to the village’s pub and farm shop (a useful source of supplies for your barbecue back at base). Bus services from the stop just outside can take you into nearby Ashbourne – or you can drive over there in about 10 minutes. In fact, everything here has been designed to make life nice and easy for guests, with well-kept ample toilet and shower facilities, a chemical disposal area, a washing-up area and a launderette provided. Dogs are welcome to join you on site as long as they're well behaved. The wifi service provided is also likely to come in handy, given that you'll probably want to plan lots of days out around the area. The edge of the Peak District National Park is about 10 minutes' drive away, as is the start of the traffic-free Tissington Trail, so you'll be in a good position for getting out to explore the lovely landscapes. And there are plenty of other attractions around too, including Alton Towers and the Chatsworth estate.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: The site was very clean and well maintained. Arrival was very welcoming.
Close proximity to Dovedale stepping stones and Carsington Water.

Disliked: My only critique would be that the washrooms were in the motorhome area, so there was a short walk every morning and evening with a 4 year old.

Liked: Good toilet and shower facilities which were very clean and well maintained. Lovely setting with play area and dog walks on site. Convenient location close to Ashbourne and within ready access of Peak District tourist attractions.

Disliked: Toilets/showers closed for cleaning from 10.00-11.00 am in the week which is a little early. Shower block is also some distance from tent field.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: 3 night get away and we really did 'get away'. It was wonderful. Friendly, helpful welcome on arrival. Huge grass pitch for our camper and awning. Didn't move the van once! Loads of local walks, quiet site (even on a bank holiday, all guests respected their neighbours). They did well to keep the facilities clean on a busy weekend. Warm showers and water to wash up in.

Disliked: On pitch 55 and near the dog walk, if the wind turned we could smell urine. Not the owners fault but not having a dog this might not of been the best location for us.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: The location was very nice. Adequate facilities on site. The nearest pub was a bit of nightmare to walk to. As the main road is like a race track. With no footpaths. Enjoyed the bus ride to Ashbourne. Very nice place.

Disliked: The fact that the site is dog friendly as long as they are kept on a leash. But a lot of people seemed to let them run around loose.
