Sometimes you can tell a lot about a site just from its name – and that’s definitely the case with Nature's Rest. This Buckinghamshire site is all about helping guests to relax and reconnect with nature, perhaps spotting buzzards and red kites overhead, listening to owls hooting in the moonlight or settling by the campfire to look up into the starry skies.
In a rural spot between Aylesbury and Leighton Buzzard and easily accessed from the A418, this place makes a handy base for all sorts of days out. In between admiring the sunrise (if you’re up in time) and getting the campfire or barbecue going ready for sunset, you can be fishing, taking walks in the Chiltern Hills National Landscape, admiring heritage trains or meeting exotic animals at Whipsnade Zoo.
With nature such a feature of this site, they’re doing their best to preserve it and create a minimal carbon footprint. That means facilities have been kept on the simpler side of things – guests have access to portable toilets, showers (hot water available on request), a washing-up area and a communal fridge/freezer.
The surroundings may be rural, but you won’t be cut off here, as this site is only a mile (about 20 minutes’ walk) from the village of Wingrave, which has a pub that’s open throughout the week for drinks and meals.
