  • Quiet and welcoming East Sussex site 10 minutes’ drive from Wadhurst
  • National Trust - Bateman’s 10 minutes’ drive; Bodiam Castle 20 minutes
  • Dog-friendly pitches with access to walks; pub five minutes’ drive
Heading East Sussex way? If you’re looking for that heady combination of peace, a warm welcome and country views, make a beeline for Cairds Camping and Caravanning Site, 10 minutes’ drive from the village of Wadhurst and surrounded by pretty rural scenery. There's a myriad of walks directly from this family-run site, as well a range of visitor attractions nearby from gorgeous gardens to activity centres – although getting out and about means you'll have to tear yourself away from your pitch, which all have great vistas across the surrounding fields and woodlands. Your dogs are welcome to join your rambles and explorations, but please keep them on a lead at all times when on site. Locally there are plenty of pretty villages tucked away in the East Sussex countryside that have traditional pubs – the nearest being Burwash (five minutes’ drive). If you need a quick top-up on supplies, head to Wadhurst, which has a few small shops; for bigger shopping sprees, Tunbridge Wells (25 minutes) should see you right. And the practical bits? Facilities include communal showers, a washing-up area and drinking-water points across the site. Should you prefer to fend for yourselves instead of making a beeline for a pub, you can hire firepits on site as well as buying logs for the fire.

Cabin

Liked The views are in interrupted when the camping field is empty. The cabin is ok ☺️ for the price. The location is good for walkers to explore ticehurt 2 1/4 miles away.. had complimentary chairs and table all cooking facilities

Disliked Works being carried out early, glad we were some distance away, the other pod was so close. The lights inside barely worked and pod was cold compared to others we had stayed in. The toilet/shower was very basic and felt it could of been cleaner.

Liked Lovely view.

Disliked We were on quite a bad slope, not too bad for us, we could level up as in a caravan, but my friend in his tent, kept sliding down.

The bins in the toilets hadn't been emptied at all whilst we were there.
Nothing in the bathrooms for us to clean up. It was quite muddy in there, would have bern useful to have a mop to use, especially when you've just got out of the shower.

Liked Well appointed campsite with nice outlook. Everything kept clean and well maintained.

Disliked Would benefit from a communal fridge (or freezer for storing ice-packs) as tent users have no way to keep food /drinks cool. Particularly useful when the weather is warm.

Liked It was our first camping trip as a family and it was absolutely amazing from easy signing in all the way to when we left. The owners are friendly and will help you if needed. Its a nice small campsite which we found great with a little one running around. We loved how close the horses were and so did out little one.

Disliked Nothing to dislike

Would definitely go there again! Worth the price.

Cabin

Liked Everything you need is there. Small fridge, Plates, cutlery, mugs, wine glasses, kettle, cooking pot, frying pan, bottle opener, bbq tongs, cleaning equipment, chairs and table for outside. Very clean cabin.
Small but cosy piece of land. Enough space between each tent. Even though it is just next to the road it is very quiet. Cabin is surrounded by the bushes which makes it a cozy corner to rest.
2 cabins with toilet and shower in each. And washing stand next to it.

Disliked The blanket I took just in case turned out to be useful as it got cold at night due to the wooden walls not being 100% tight. But there is even a small heater provided.
