Liked Gorgeous quiet site near Buxton. Amenities are excellent and clean. Showers, toilets, washing up, fridge/freezer available, sockets available for charging phones etc. Spacious. Loved the donkeys and the friendly cat. Beautiful views.

Horizon 2014 3 bedroom static caravan
Liked Caravan - spacious, clean, fully functional and fully kitted out. Dated, but this is reflected in the more than fair price. Loved the area, local pub was good - 5 minute walk. Local beaches and headland walks - amazing! Loved the phone box lending library in the village. Loved whitesands beach - excellent for swimming, bodyboarding etc. Easy access from carpark. Loved the whole holiday. Alec the owner was so lovely and welcoming - he even put our Asda delivery in the caravan when it turned up before us! Local shop/petrol station a few mins drive. We found Nisa in St Davids good for anything bigger - good for bbq meats. The one thing that would have made it perfect, would have been a picnic bench or outdoor seating of some kind. We brought our own BBQ from home, they are allowed but not provided. It is a very quiet campsite, so you wouldnt be partying till the early hours - head somewhere else if that's your thing.
Disliked Nothing to dislike. Thankyou for a lovely holiday. 😊

Liked We stayed for 1 night in early July. Arrived and phoned the assistance number on the door. Margaret came and welcomed us, and told us where we should go. We were free to choose a space. The site itself is very basic - there's a water tap and access to the pub loos. No showers or washing up facilities. This is explained in their write-up, and I feel is reflected well in the more than fair pitch price. If you know you want a shower, then it's probably not the place for you. It's not far to the loos, and they were clean and well stocked. There were sinks for a wash if wanted. We never had to wait. We knew all this and it didn't put us off. There is obviously still some work going on on the site. There is a nice little beer garden, and a space for games with the kids. Its so close to Alton Towers, you can hear some of the rides in the distance, and this place is perfect to stay after a day out there. It is a couple of minutes drive into Alton village, where there is a Londis and a couple of pubs. The Inn at the site opened at 7 - Wow! What a fabulous place. It was quaint and comfortable and quirky too. We spent the evening on the amazing pool table, and didn't even notice the unusual dartboard till the end of the night - will definitely bring my darts next time. We ordered food from the specials board, which was delicious - well cooked and flavoured and plentiful. All the meals we saw looked good, and the desserts looked gorgeous too - sadly we were too full at that point - another thing to look forward to next time. Very reasonably priced too. In fact our whole evening - Bottle of wine, pints (and pints) of Guinness, substantial meal each, and an evening's worth of tokens for the pool table cost just over £50. We didn't try the breakfast offering - which is served 8-9 am - perfect for those up and off to the theme park - but I believe it's very good, and again excellent value at £9.99 all inclusive. Cereals, toast, juice, tea, coffee, full English etc. We had a fabulous stay. All the staff are friendly, approachable and helpful - Margaret is amazing! We absolutely loved our stay here and will definitely return. Thankyou Peakstones Inn.

Safari tent
Liked Excellent facilities with amazing attention to detail. Our safari tent had everything you could want or need. Comfy beds, made up with crisp clean bedding. Plenty of towels, blankets and tea towels etc. Tea, coffee, milk and sugar as well as gorgeous homemade scones, jam and clotted cream! There was a fabulous info manual to help light fires etc - and the hot tub was lit and warm all ready for us to use straight away. The location is stunning. Very peaceful and quiet. The gas bbq was fab, as was the firepit and woodburning stove. The wood bucket magically refilled itself and stargazing from the hot tub at night had to be the absolute highpoint for me. Our hosts, Colin and Margaret, couldn't have been nicer. They welcomed us helped with our luggage, talked us through lighting the hot tub and stove and were always available to offer help and advice. Never intrusive in anyway, but always ready with a cheery hello or chat. The Safari tent is in a good central location for visiting different places. We went to Tintagel, The Eden Project, West Pentire to see the poppies, Golitha Falls and Summerleaze beach (Bude) Fabulous beach with a sea pool, easy access and great facilities. We had a walk in the local area with beautiful views. A wonderful meal at the Eliot Arms. Fabulous fresh food and huge portions! We had a fabulous week at Western Meadows and would love to return. Thankyou Colin and Margaret.

From the manager: Hi Helen. Thank you for putting photos onto the website. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We do try very hard to ensure that our guests have everything they need to make their stay a pleasant and trouble free one. It sounds like we succeeded in doing that and that makes us both happy.

Unpowered grass and earth trailer tent site
Liked Clean toilets, cute animals, friendly staff- every single one was friendly, welcoming and super helpful. Gorgeous pub, fabulous pub food, very reasonably priced. Lots of space, quiet, peaceful. Fires and barbecues allowed - wood etc bought from site. Beautiful countryside views, close to local amenities. Handy for Alton Towers.
Disliked 15 min queue for the loos at 8am. Needed to be up and off, and ended up late. Even a portaloo or something until something more permanent can be arranged, or some way of accessing the pub loos earlier. Other than that perfect, and wouldn't stop me returning.

Powered grass site
Liked Had a wonderful time at this sparkling clean campsite. There were less than 8 pitches in use when we were there. The owners were very friendly and helpful and happy to introduce us to the animals, chat about the local area and give recommendations for eating out and places to visit. There was a large chicken pen on one side of the campsite and fields opposite with goats, sheep and cows. Also a couple of pigs. My teenage daughters enjoyed themselves. We bought eggs and honey to bring home. Many thanks.

Liked Proximity to beach. Didn't use car. Quiet at night. Facilities ok. Not the best, but basic and clean. Staff at reception were very helpful and friendly. Free wifi was a bonus, but intermittent connection.
Disliked Extremely busy and packed pitches. No toilet roll. Showers too small and 5 second button press. Everything got wet unless put in a bag and hung up.

Liked Absolutely loved this place. Very friendly owners Mark and Ildie who couldn't do enough to help and always had time for a chat. My daughters loved the fabulous pool and we actually spent 2 days on site just chilling out. Illdie produced the most fabulous information folder with so much to see and do in the area. The facilities on the camp were the cleanest I have ever seen and the communal fridge/freezer was a huge bonus. The surrounding hamlets and towns are beautiful and I really enjoyed exploring the area both on foot and in the car. Bike hire is available at the site for very reasonable rates also. We were very sad to leave after 4 beautiful nights. Will be back! Thankyou.

Fully-serviced grass and earth site
Liked Pool, bouncy castles, trampoline and play areas. Lovely feel to this campsite. Nice clean facilities, although the toilet roll containers either ran out or the roll got stuck and was inaccessible over 2 days while we were there - so bring your own. Free wifi a big bonus - you need to ask for the code and agree the terms to access it each day. Can order bread and pastry for morning delivery. Half hour drive to Saumur - beautiful Chateau town on the Loire, and Bioparc is 5 mins away - amazing zoo built into the rocks and caves.
Disliked Toilet roll containers not being renewed over the weekend.

From the manager: Hello, Thank you for your encouraging comment. For the toilet paper actually our supplier was out of order so we did not have delivery before the weekend. We received it on Monday and put it in the toilet.
Sainte-Suzanne, Mayenne, France
Liked Warm welcome from English speaking host, who advised on a shady pitch (38 degree heatwave) and loaned us an extension cable for our electric, as all the available electric pitches were non shade. We needed an adaptor from 3 pin to 2 pin for the extension, which a fab couple loaned us. Was only an overnight stop, so didn't see much as was too hot to explore, and because of this we didn't really get a feel for the place. Free municipal pool available with a slide - used by village and free to campers. Facilities clean and functional. Boulangerie/patisserie in village very good and helpful with my very slowly emerging 'Dellboy' French. Nice little supermarket on edge of village with friendly helpful staff.

Liked Wonderful welcome from a lovely couple. Absolutely loved this site. Pool and hammocks were a great draw for my daughters (11 and 15), as were the goats, kids, chickens and geese. We had 2 nights in very hot weather, so didn't see much of the area - (St Fromonde is a charming village 3 minutes away with a cafe, butcher and a small grocery shop) - We Just enjoyed the charming rustic facilities. Everything was in keeping with the ethos of the place - simple, beautiful, and well thought out. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and I felt like a friend visiting them, rather than a guest. Thankyou. Will return. X
