Powered gravel caravan site
Liked Very peaceful site, well maintained with excellent shower facilities.
Staff all very friendly and helpful.
Excellent dog walking areas, one for dogs on lead and one off lead area. Easy walk along the river into Pately Bridge, but a well stocked on site shop for essentials.
Disliked The route in might be a bit off putting for nervous towers! Coming down (and back out) through Pately Bridge was tricky with a very narrow and steep high street; also the track in and out of the site itself is narrow. But the site itself,.can't fault it! Worth navigating the roads.

Powered concrete slab caravan site
Liked Great location and the pub is lovely with good value home cooked food.
Perfectly level pitches, and very good and extremely clean shower and toilet facilities.
Electric and a water tap for each pitch was great to have.
WiFi is available in the caravan park which was more than adequate for streaming TV, we had no issues at all.
Good phone signal (on 3).
Disliked Both grass and hard standing pitches are available. However, to get to the hard standing pitches you have to drive across grass to get to them. The grass where you access some of the pitches was starting to get very chewed up when we were there and could easily become difficult, so something to be aware of. In fact one visitor I spoke to who had stayed there before said that earlier in the year their friend got stuck and had to be rescued by a local farmer with a tractor. This could easily be improved with a gravel track.
The pitches were not huge and the hard standing area we were on, whilst good quality and very level, was not very deep so the front of our van extended onto the grass. Also we were at the pub end right next to the car park so there was a bit of noise from people getting in and out of cars and coming and going. The pitches towards the rear of the site would have been much better and we wish we could have been that end.

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site
Liked Beautifully kept site, very peaceful and quiet apart from the odd cow and horse! Easy to access with a caravan, no difficult roads or awkward entrances. The pitches are a really good size and flat.
Lovely lake which you can walk around. The owners are really friendly and helpful.
Great location, easy to get into York, on a bus route - although we drove into Fulford and parked up then walked into York along the river.
I've given one star for child friendliness as it's an adult only site due to the lake so not at all a criticism! We usually choose adult only as that's a plus for us.
Disliked Nothing, it's just lovely!

Powered concrete and grass caravan site
Liked Nice big pitch. Campsite was pretty quiet and they had kept people well spaced.
Toilets and showers were ok.
They were adaptable when we needed to change our booking at short notice, allowing us to pull it forward a few days with no admin fee.
Flexible on check in and check out times
Disliked Difficult to get through to camp office if you need to speak to anyone. Understaffed and not open all week.
Could do with a bigger on site shop for essentials given it's such a large site.

From the manager: I am sorry that you will not stay again. The office is open when the campsite is open and out of hours we are available on the 24 hour mobile phone for any issues whilst staying. The office is closed on a Wednesday and Thursday (my days off) during school holidays it is open every day. It is not possible to answer the phone when checking guests in especially on a Friday. The shop has basics available and the co-op is a 2 minute drive or 20 minute walk along the river, there is a Waitrose and Tesco Express in Paddock Wood which is a short drive.
