Five spacious pitches

  • Small adults-only campsite in the village of Llanystumdwy, North Wales
  • A 15-minute drive to Snowdonia National Park; 25 minutes to Caernarfon
  • Well-maintained grass pitches and shower block; communal dining area
Family-run The Paddocks Caravan and Camping is a small and ultra-organised site with well-maintained, flat and spacious pitches in north Wales. It’s less than five minutes’ drive to the beach at Criccieth, and around half an hour to the imposing castles at Harlech and Caernarfon, making this a cracking adults-only base from which to explore the Llŷn Peninsula. It's a 10-minute trip by car to the wide, south-facing sands at Pwllheli, a former haunt of smugglers and pirates. You'll find it quite a bit calmer these days, especially if you follow the fab Llŷn Peninsula Coastal Path round the peninsula for views and wildlife and splendid sea air. Sandcastles, paddling and rockpool exploration are all there for the taking. If you’d rather ditch the car, a bus stop is five minutes’ walk away, or you can explore on two legs – perhaps a good place to start is the local village of Llanystumdwy (five minutes’ walk), as it’s the burial place of former Prime Minister David Lloyd George. You can see his grave and visit a small museum, and afterwards stroll down the banks of the scenic River Dwyfor or pop into the pub for a pint. Gleaming facilities on site include a well-lit shower block with two private bathrooms (each containing a large shower, wash-hand basin and toilet), plus a separate adjacent shower with a dressing room and a hair dryer. Nearby is a covered communal area with a table and seating, plus two washing-up sinks, a fridge-freezer, a separate drinks fridge, a microwave, toaster and a kettle. There's also a phone-charging point. Firepits and barbecues are allowed, but they must be raised off the ground and set up on one of the concrete slabs provided. Small chimineas and barbecues are available for nightly hire on site, and you can buy logs and charcoal here too. Please note that parties are not permitted – this is a quiet site.

What customers say

This adults-only campsite gets rave reviews for being spotless, with plenty of room and top-notch facilities like a communal kitchen. Owners are super friendly and helpful, and the spot's peaceful vibe makes it great for exploring. Just a heads-up about a bit of road noise and a small on-site shop.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked Lovely site with great services. The pitches are a fantastic size with good water pressure, electric, grey waste and reliable WiFi. The electric, water and grey waste are located 15 metres away from the rear of the van so make sure you have long enough equipment to reach. The owners are friendly and helpful. They have also added lots of useful equipment in the communal room, including a microwave, fridge, freezer, and good washing facilities. We will definitely be returning to this tranquil little haven.

Disliked Nothing at all to dislike just maybe a tweek but this is just my opinion. The site could benefit from some more lighting, as it's pitch black at night. The shower rooms are a little cold, although the rooms are a good size and the water was powerful and lovely and warm.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked The facilities were very clean and tidy. There was a microwave & toaster provided for general use. You can buy eggs, milk, coffee & tea. There are even freezer bags provided to put your food in in the communal fridge/freezer. Several bottles of washing up liquid were provided, together with washing up bowls, cloths & sponges. You can also hire a variety of firepits, BBQs and chimineas or a washing line and you can buy firewood on site. The owner was very friendly and gave me a tour of the site.

Disliked The shower wasn't very powerful. The weather was pretty dire, when I stayed unfortunately, strong winds and torrential rain. I only stayed 2 nights instead of the 4 that I'd paid for as I couldn't sleep with the awful weather & decided to stay in my friends' caravan instead.
