  • Peaceful family-run park next to the River Spean in Roybridge
  • A 20-minute drive from the outdoor activities hub of Fort William
  • A short walk from the village with train station and two pubs
Folk who fancy a few days of fresh air, hotfoot it up to Bunroy Caravan and Camping Park – as you may guess from its location on the banks of the River Spean and its glimpses of the mountains of the Nevis Range beyond, this peaceful nine-acre site is quite the spot for outdoorsy days. Fort William (a place that’s developed a rep as the outdoor capital of the UK) is a 20-minute drive from here, or via a train from Roy Bridge station, a leisurely five-minute saunter from the site. It’s just a short amble too to a couple of pubs for pies and pints. All around here are heaps of Highland activities: get your pulse going with days of hiking, mountain biking, canyoning, climbing, kayaking and the like, or keep things a bit more serene by taking in the gorgeous views from a cable car ride, a train trip or a wildlife-spotting cruise. Facilities on site have been kept low-key to preserve that placid rural vibe, but all the essentials are in place: among them a fast wifi connection, charging point and fridge-freezer. Guests returning damp and mucky from their antics will no doubt be chuffed to see free hot showers and a launderette.

Liked Warm welcome and was given the choice of a few pitches because it was a little bit quiet. Lovely grounds with a small river trail loop on the doorstep.
Pitch was spacious, toilet block and washing facilities were always clean. Really liked this quiet campsite.

Liked Spacious pitches and lovely views and woodland walks straight from the site. The owners are incredibly welcoming and more than happy to help.

Honestly, we can’t compliment this site enough — it’s absolutely lovely, and the level of cleanliness is exceptional.

It’s rare to find a site kept to such a high standard, and the thoughtful little touches really make a difference — things like paper towels to help keep the sinks clean, washing-up liquid being readily available, hand sanitiser, and a very well-maintained chemical toilet area.

The hot showers were excellent, and even the shower curtains were spotless — which really says everything about the care and attention that goes into maintaining the facilities.

The availability of a fridge and freezer was also a huge bonus. We stayed on three sites on Skye this week and not one of them offered this, so it really set this site apart.

A fantastic place to stay — we wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Disliked Nothing - it was perfect.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Really loved the spot for small tents. I had a lovely view of the river and a nice, quiet, secluded pitch. The hosts are lovely and ever so welcoming. Very dog friendly too with a beautiful riverside walk laid out along the border of the campsite. Will definitely be staying here again in future.

Local attractions

Alfresco activities are within easy reach of Bunroy. Bring your walking boots for excellent hikes taking in mountain vistas and waterfalls in Glen Spean and the Nevis Range, both of which are around 20 minutes away by car, or a little further away around Glen Coe. There are some fab mountain bike trails are here too, and local outdoor centres can sort you out with all sorts of other activities including canyoning, whitewater rafting and paragliding. For something a little more relaxing, there’s a golf course 10 minutes’ drive away or you can bring your kit to fish on the Spean next to the site. If you fancy slowing the pace a little bit, take a seal-spotting boat trip from Fort William or bag a seat on the Jacobite Steam Train to cross the Glenfinnan Viaduct (which may look rather familiar to fans of the Harry Potter films).
