  • Peaceful family-run park next to the River Spean in Roybridge
  • A 20-minute drive from the outdoor activities hub of Fort William
  • A short walk from the village with train station and two pubs
Folk who fancy a few days of fresh air, hotfoot it up to Bunroy Caravan and Camping Park – as you may guess from its location on the banks of the River Spean and its glimpses of the mountains of the Nevis Range beyond, this peaceful nine-acre site is quite the spot for outdoorsy days. Fort William (a place that’s developed a rep as the outdoor capital of the UK) is a 20-minute drive from here, or via a train from Roy Bridge station, a leisurely five-minute saunter from the site. It’s just a short amble too to a couple of pubs for pies and pints. All around here are heaps of Highland activities: get your pulse going with days of hiking, mountain biking, canyoning, climbing, kayaking and the like, or keep things a bit more serene by taking in the gorgeous views from a cable car ride, a train trip or a wildlife-spotting cruise. Facilities on site have been kept low-key to preserve that placid rural vibe, but all the essentials are in place: among them a campers' kitchen with two fridges, a freezer, microwave and kettle, as well as wifi and a charging point. Guests returning damp and mucky from their antics will no doubt be chuffed to see free hot showers and a launderette.

What customers say

A spotlessly clean, well-kept park with friendly staff and a peaceful vibe. River walks and spacious pitches are a hit. Just a heads-up on the narrow road and occasional shower queues. Highly recommended, with many keen to come back.

Liked Second time at this site everyone so friendly and helpfull. Great walks for the dogs and so funny watching about 10 ducks coming up from the river to get snacks from the campers on site. Facilities super clean and piping hot showers.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Warm welcome on arrival by Jo the lovely receptionist. She gives a map guide of the campsite and happy to answer any questions.

Tent pitches have plenty of space, most with a table and tent pegs have no issues going into the ground.

Nice riverside walk for the dog.

Toilet and shower block is clean and the ambient music is a nice touch.

The amenities are very handy too for tent campers.

There are books and dvds to borrow too!

Disliked The WiFi can be a bit hit or miss at times,

Glen Spean camping pod

Liked Fantastic and clean place to stay (toilets taken care of regularly as well as showers big plus). Friendly atmosphere, provided everything you need on the road trip.

Disliked Toilets and bathrooms in one facility. If you urgently need to go to toilet, might be a challenging to walk across the yard.

Local attractions

Alfresco activities are within easy reach of Bunroy. Bring your walking boots for excellent hikes taking in mountain vistas and waterfalls in Glen Spean and the Nevis Range, both of which are around 20 minutes away by car, or a little further away around Glen Coe. There are some fab mountain bike trails are here too, and local outdoor centres can sort you out with all sorts of other activities including canyoning, whitewater rafting and paragliding. For something a little more relaxing, there’s a golf course 10 minutes’ drive away or you can bring your kit to fish on the Spean next to the site. If you fancy slowing the pace a little bit, take a seal-spotting boat trip from Fort William or bag a seat on the Jacobite Steam Train to cross the Glenfinnan Viaduct (which may look rather familiar to fans of the Harry Potter films).
