  • Peaceful family-run park next to the River Spean in Roybridge
  • A 20-minute drive from the outdoor activities hub of Fort William
  • A short walk from the village with train station and two pubs
Folk who fancy a few days of fresh air, hotfoot it up to Bunroy Caravan and Camping Park – as you may guess from its location on the banks of the River Spean and its glimpses of the mountains of the Nevis Range beyond, this peaceful nine-acre site is quite the spot for outdoorsy days. Fort William (a place that’s developed a rep as the outdoor capital of the UK) is a 20-minute drive from here, or via a train from Roy Bridge station, a leisurely five-minute saunter from the site. It’s just a short amble too to a couple of pubs for pies and pints. All around here are heaps of Highland activities: get your pulse going with days of hiking, mountain biking, canyoning, climbing, kayaking and the like, or keep things a bit more serene by taking in the gorgeous views from a cable car ride, a train trip or a wildlife-spotting cruise. Facilities on site have been kept low-key to preserve that placid rural vibe, but all the essentials are in place: among them a campers' kitchen with two fridges, a freezer, microwave and kettle, as well as wifi and a charging point. Guests returning damp and mucky from their antics will no doubt be chuffed to see free hot showers and a launderette.

What customers say

Rave reviews for this immaculate, well-kept campsite with super-friendly staff. Guests loved the peaceful, riverside setting with great walks, and spacious pitches. Toilets/showers spotless, though busy times can mean fewer showers. Bumpy road access noted; no fires allowed.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Excellent facilities. Grass pitches, not astroturf. Access to the river, little ducks come up to the campsite. Beautiful. Forest walk was great for the wee dog.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Love this campsite. This is my second visit.
Pitches very generous in size, they could fit a motorhome awning & a car . Toilets spotless they even have a seat in shower cubicle which is a good idea especially when your a bit older. Owners could not be anymore welcoming. Lovely forest walks for dogs. Peaceful setting. Local pub/hotel nearby. Will visit again & again

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Everything. We unfortunately were a little late for check in due to unforeseen circumstances and were rather exhausted and stressed out. Trisha made us feel completely at home and extremely welcomed. The site is beautiful. Nestled away next to the river it’s an ideal location. The facilities were lovely and clean and had the best hot shower with great water pressure we had had all week having stayed at multiple places on our trip. We would not hesitate to recommend staying here and we will most definitely be back! Side note - Trisha recommended The Glenroy Cafe in the village and I can confirm this also was 10/10. Such a cute little cafe with inviting staff and great food and drinks😊

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Everything was clean and tidy checked in easy given a map of site and explained by owner Dave just to pick our own pitching site.

Disliked The road in was a bit rough on the way in but I suppose it keeps the speed down

Local attractions

Alfresco activities are within easy reach of Bunroy. Bring your walking boots for excellent hikes taking in mountain vistas and waterfalls in Glen Spean and the Nevis Range, both of which are around 20 minutes away by car, or a little further away around Glen Coe. There are some fab mountain bike trails are here too, and local outdoor centres can sort you out with all sorts of other activities including canyoning, whitewater rafting and paragliding. For something a little more relaxing, there’s a golf course 10 minutes’ drive away or you can bring your kit to fish on the Spean next to the site. If you fancy slowing the pace a little bit, take a seal-spotting boat trip from Fort William or bag a seat on the Jacobite Steam Train to cross the Glenfinnan Viaduct (which may look rather familiar to fans of the Harry Potter films).
