  • Family park close to Poole, Studland and Sandbanks
  • Indoor and outdoor pools, amusement arcade, play areas and kids' clubs
  • Bowling, crazy golf, ice cream parlour, restaurant and clubhouse
Sandford Holiday Park is an apt name for this park, which has acres of Britain’s best beaches within easy reach… From its peaceful Holton Heath woodland setting, it's just a short journey to the wide sands of Studland and Sandbanks, as well as lively resorts such as Bournemouth and Poole – all of which are within a half-hour drive. Boredom's not an option here, where the activities include a summer outdoor and indoor pool complex, a dedicated musical play pool for toddlers, courts for tennis and many other sports, bikes and pedal go-karts for hire, and nature trails crisscrossing the site. Still standing after all that energetic stuff? Then go swing’n’rolling at the bowling, or take the kids around the jungle-themed crazy golf and reward the winner with an extra scoop at the site’s ice cream parlour. The park also has three different kids’ clubs, banded by age to make sure top fun is had by all (even the harder-to-please teens should be mildly interested by the film-making and DJ workshops… plus the free wifi on site). Young’uns should also enjoy the indoor soft play zone and two outdoor play areas, with a pirate ship and a climbing wall as well as the usual playground paraphernalia. Recharge your batteries at the fish and chip shop or the Arena restaurant, which serves Costa coffee as well as pizzas and lots of other family-friendly meals. Then top it all off with a trip to the Limelite Club for family entertainment, cabaret and competitions from the sparkly Troupers: you should sleep well after that lot…

What customers say

A big, bustling spot with loads for kids. Sites are decent, some private. Staff get shout-outs for being friendly. However, loos and showers are often flagged as grubby, dated, or broken. Noise and packed facilities, especially in peak season, are also common complaints.

Paddock powered grass caravan site

Liked Location is great. Loads to do on park as well as loads within local area. Staff were all extremely polite and really good with the kids. Food / drink on site also very reasonably priced if you didn't want to eat in every night. Touring facilities were plentiful and clean. Even all the fellow visitors were nice, everyone saying hello and having a chat, the kids instantly made friends with others to. Definitely one of the best parks owned by a chain we have visited by far!

Disliked There wasn't anything we really disliked...

Paddock powered grass caravan site

Liked The outside pool but thought that closing for lunch was not necessary and closing at 5pm on a hot summers day was rubbish.

Disliked All the extra charges for activities, made for a very expensive stay.

Meadows powered grass caravan site

Liked Everything was amazing staff where so helpful and polite. The place was very clean and safe lots of security. And loved you could order food anywhere.

Disliked Shower room near office could use benches or lockers to put dry clothes on and they didn't have only adult swimming which was a shame, and a bigger park would be amazing

Paddock powered grass caravan site

Liked Flat ground, decent facilities and showers, food at the restaurant.
Lifeguards are on the ball but the ratio of people to guards seems to be about 1:30 which is reasonable for the size of the pool and range of abilities. Staff were all very helpful and considerate. Security is on site but very stretched.

Disliked Swimming slots are now 1 hour long. There is a coloured band system which is rarely adhered to effectively. The pools shut at 12.45 for ‘activities’ and then open again until 5pm. My opinion is that Parkdean Sandford have just added layers of stress to the swimming experience. The outdoor pool needs to be expanded to cope with the demand, either that or extend opening times or take a hit on the revenue generation. I don’t understand how Parkdean Sandford would prefer to make £100 a day more by running mini-scuba lessons over pissing off hundreds of guests every day. The current system just isn’t effective. Lack of enforcement regarding noisy families who think their music is appreciated by everyone else.

Paddock powered grass caravan site

Liked Indoor and outdoor pool available

Disliked Only small playground at the entrance of the parc. No other playgrounds. It is very clear that the parc wants you to book and pay for the additional activities only. Pools very small.
Toilettes very dirty and often blocked because flush not working anymore.

Meadows powered grass caravan site

Liked Good location to get around Poole/Bournemouth area. Site is spacious and good parks for little ones.

Disliked Second time visiting and hoped facilities would have been cleaned up for the summer but shower blocks are shabby and need updating. Pool changing rooms are very grubby, never seen them cleaned.

The children loved this park, although not the noisy evenings.

Holton 2 bedroom safari tent

Liked The grandchildren were absolutely blown away with the park and the safari glamping tent. It was a great adventure for them.

All the staff were AMAZING and they made every effort to make our holiday a memorable happy one.

Archie stood out for his outstanding support to us and our grandson Toby (9), who highly respected Archie. Archie went over and above to make our stay and activities seamless and memorable. He was unbelievably talented when guiding Toby on the Hire Wire and football. Archie was professional throughout and got the best out of our Toby. Thank you Archie

Ronnan too stood out for his support to us and guidance to both Toby and Piper (5) when at the pools. Thank you Ronnan

Breakfast was outstanding as was the Thunderbird Chicken... excellent food.

The children really enjoyed the football and arts and craft den.

The NISA shop was brilliant.

Disliked Mainly, it was noisy, especially in the evenings. Some guests did not give up with their loud noise that went on until the early hours. Children, were constantly woken up as the noise got louder as the night went on and, we could not sleep either.

Dogs constantly barking day and night.

Outside pool was EXTREMELY COLD. THIS SPOILT OUR HOLIDAY (unsure if we would return because of this)

Wifi was so weak we could not book activities. Also, could not access our Netflix, Youtube, Amazon Prime etc.

More information provided on booking activities would be great, as it was difficult to grasp what was what and when. Especially without wifi. We missed out on loads. Go carts were broken and only a limited supply for guests to use.

We were misinformed on our booking as it stated NO DOGS, when most of our neighbours had dogs. Two of our family guests booked on our holiday, had to stay at home with their dog. When we realised dogs were allowed, they couldn't come back as they went back to work and could not mess their employers up again.

Crazy golf area needed clearing daily as it was full of stones and, debris from the bamboo plants and trees. This issue is absolute common sense and guests shouldn't have to remind staff about this. Eg when guests are playing golf, the area needs to be clean.

Our fridge was broken eg freezer compartment door was broken.

Safari tents...., bunkbeds would be better in one of the rooms as there was no space to move.

Need more football areas for the children please. Especially for younger children under 10 as the older children dominated the (one and only) pitch to play on. They took over the pitch pushing the younger children out. eg, bigger children were stronger and intimidating. Younger children had to stand back.

Local attractions

It’s a short hop in the car to begin discovering the area’s spectacular surrounds, from the wilds of the New Forest to the ancient cliffs, limestone arches and nature reserves of the Jurassic Coast (tick off another World Heritage Site on your 'must-see' list). Dorset is jammed with attractions to suit all interests. History buffs might fancy clambering around Northe Fort or scaling the ramparts at Corfe and Portland castles. The Adventure Wonderland family theme park has thrills for kids of all ages, plus a massive hedge maze to get lost in, and action men (and women) can go paintballing or drive a tank at the Bovington Tank Museum. There’s loads of fun for fauna fans, too: check out the chimps at Monkey World, swan about at Abbotsbury Swannery, visit Weymouth Sea Life Park, explore the largest saltwater lagoon in the country on the glass-bottomed Fleet Observer, or meet some farmyard friends at Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park. Drive a bit further and you can also make a day trip to Longleat Safari Park.
