Get along to Stithians Lake Campsite for watersports, scenic waterside views and loads of room all around: pitches at this family-friendly activities site look out over 275-acre Stithians Lake. The range of activities on offer at Stithians Lake Campsite makes the site excellent for groups: fly fishers can cast from boat or bank for sizeable brown and rainbow trout (Environment Agency rod licences are required for over 12s and you'll need to apply for these beforehand). Visitors can also try out a wide range of watersports with the help of the qualified instructors at the Outdoor Active centre: windsurfing, sailing, wing foiling, efoiling and kayaking are all on offer... feel free to bring your own kit or rent it on site. There’s loads of space around the site for family games and picnics too, as well as a pirate-themed playground, walking trails around the lake and a bird hide. Rid yourselves of the rumbles at the on-site café and refreshment kiosk, or have some of the homemade specials on the menu at the Golden Lion pub, 100 yards away. The shower and toilet facilities are a short walk from the campsite. Guests have access to individual washrooms with a toilet, shower and sink. These facilities are separate to the watersports centre where further toilets, showers and changing facilities can be found. Stithians village is within easy reach of the site to stock up on supplies.

Liked Peaceful site, clean and tidy shower/toilet cubicles. Great watersports on site and convenient for beaches on north and south coasts of Cornwall.

Disliked Water pressure in the showers could be better- sometimes reduced to a trickle depending on how many other cubicles were in use - on the upside the water was hot!

Disliked No personal touches. Didn’t speak to a soul for a week - no one that worked there even checked us in.
If you like rocking up without any personal attention or even a “hello” then this will work.
Also the camp site seems to be very independent from the lake. It was still £13 per day per board to go on lake.

Disliked The marshals talking next to our pitch early in the morning and throwing stones at each other. We didn't know their was a big event on. Would not recommend pitch 1 as it was also used at a walk through for some dog walkers.

Liked The tent and camping facilities was great
Really loved the whole experience

The position of the tent would have been even lovelier if it had been nearer to the lake however and not overlooking a car park with people staring in as I rested on the bed. There were some lovely quiet spots around the lake that would have been perfect.
Facilities for washing were good and clean.

Disliked The fact the cafe was closed and it was a real disappointment and surprise in the high season also the fact that swimming wasn't allowed. Not very clear on the website and it was the only reason I chose to stay originally next to a lake.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Another excellent stay at Stithians. I can confirm that following my last review in May, the shower issue (water too hot) has now been resolved. As expected, probably just a fault when we last stayed.

On this visit the grass had been cut, which makes life easier, and the pitches are all nicely marked out, so you really can't go wrong. This time we also walked round to the dam, which I highly recommend. We're hoping to walk the entire perimeter next time.

All in all, Stithians ticks all boxes. It's peaceful, has decent facilities, and really isn't far from places such as Falmouth and Redruth.

Disliked There were some noisy people who arrived (you couldn't miss them revving their van), but thankfully as the afternoon went into evening, they quitened down. People need to realise that not every campsite is a hive of activity, and sometimes people come to locations such as this for peace and quiet.
