What customers say
Spacious, peaceful spot with a laid-back vibe. Staff are great, food's good. Love the open fields and choosing your own spot. Close to walks and sights. Facilities usually clean, though basic. Some noise/hot water issues. Under a flight path.

Disliked Toilet seats missing in many toilets and very few incredibly basic showers.

From the manager: Hi Lorna,
Thanks for your review.
You mention many toilet seats were missing, however, it is just the one, which serves well as a urinal. The other 5 in the field you stayed in are with a toilet seat and well maintained.
You also mention the showers, which we get many compliments for. I'm sorry they weren't to your liking, however, they are bespoke showers, which are again well maintained, with hot water.
Please can I stress the accuracy when reviewing as this does affect businesses and we pride ourselves on providing a great service. We would prefer to speak with customers when on site, to address any concerns- which can then be looked into.
All the best.
Very positive experience.

Some nice trails to walk the dogs on.
Facilities more than adequate for me.
Disliked No the hosts fault, but one set of campers loudly f-ing and blinding when other campers' young children were playing nearby

From the manager: Hi WalkieWags,
Thanks so much for your review. We're glad you enjoyed your stay.
I'm sorry to hear that someone was being so loud and rude. Please do contact us if this happens while you're here. We are happy to speak with other campers if their behaviour is not acceptable.
Many thanks
NO BBQS OR FIRES ALLOWED AT PITCH
Farm field unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked The weather was great and that was about it.
Disliked We were told that BBQs and fires were not allowed, which was a huge disappointment and honestly ruined the stay from the start. Most of the food we'd brought was intended for the BBQ, so we ended up taking a lot of uncooked food home.
The campsite had allocated a communal area where fires were permitted, but that meant leaving our pitch every time we wanted to cook or sit around a fire, which completely defeated the purpose of camping for us.
If BBQs and fires are not allowed on pitches, please remove these from the campsite's listed features. It doesn't matter if it's because of a heatwave or temporary restrictions—the listing should clearly state that no BBQs or fires are allowed. Had this been made clear before booking, we would have chosen a different campsite.
Unfortunately, the campers on the pitch next to us—a young couple in their twenties—didn't seem to care about the BBQ/fire restrictions. They were also very loud, and one of them was constantly swearing. As I was camping with my 8-year-old daughter, this wasn't a pleasant environment.
The washing-up area was another disappointment. When I went there in the morning, one of the sinks was blocked and half-filled with food waste. It was unhygienic and unpleasant to use, so I simply rinsed our dishes and washed them properly when I got home.
Overall, our experience was very poor, and sadly we won't be returning to this campsite.

From the manager: Hi Jason,
I was waiting to respond to this review and now is the perfect time!
We are currently in a red risk area for wide fires. This weekend, there was a local wild fire, which, luckily [the fire] did not directly affect us but stopped the local rail line and cut the water supply to not only our farm but the whole area, including Gatwick Airport. The water was due to refilling the system after tackling the wild fire the previous day. We, luckily, were able to manage through the lack of water for a few hours but even more fortunate was that the fire was tackled and no one was hurt! Safety is our main focus while we have many people on site. While other campsites have stopped fires, we recognise how important it is that people are able to cook their own food when camping. This is why we have set up a special area and despite the inconvenience of taking a few further steps to be able to cook their food, other campers have praised us for our efforts to carry on as best we can during this unprecedented time. I hope you now understand why we have had to take these measures- to keep everyone and our local environment safe. I would suggest you keep an eye on our social media, where we post updates on temporary changes.
We encourage campers to get hold of our phone line if they have any issues, including complaints about other campers. I'm sorry to hear that your neighbours felt that they could act poorly and go against our fire rules. We would've been happy to speak with them if we were made aware.
Finally, we cannot be held responsible for other campers putting food down the sink. All I can say is that it would not be there long as we check and clean the toilets/sinks regularly. I wonder if you checked if the two other sinks were more to your liking.
All the best for your future camping.

Farm field unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked The location of Hever camping was very good for the activities we wanted to do in the area. We were able to do a fabulous walk to Hever castle from the campsite.
The site had toilets, dish washing facilities and warm showers available. The shower pressure was great and always warm which was nice after a night in the tent.
Had some interesting machinery in the site, including a jet engine.
Nice and dark at night so had a good view of the stars.
Disliked There was a bit more road noise than we expected, I'm sure it would have been a bit quieter if we were camped on the other side of the field (was full when we arrived).
We didn't get any information ahead of time about just being able to pick a spot on arrival or where things were and nobody was there to meet us despite messaging as requested, again not a major issue as we worked it out in the end.
None of these things were of major detriment to the site overall.
