What customers say
Great staff, beautiful country setting, quiet vibes. Spacious fields, honesty shop, hot showers. Developing but improving. Baby change and more wash-up spots suggested. Good value for a peaceful break.

Unpowered grass site
Liked Convenient location for ferries. Friendly and welcoming. Farm shop.
Disliked It’s a vibrant campsite and whilst not excessively noisy it’s far from peaceful.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your review, and we're really pleased you enjoyed the convenient location for ferries, the warm welcome, and our farm shop!
We'd just like to add a little context for other readers: your stay fell at the start of the August bank holiday weekend, while the international scooter rally was taking place across the Isle of Wight — making it one of the busiest weekends of our summer.
Outside of these special event weekends, our site is generally a peaceful and tranquil spot, and that's one of the things our guests tell us they love most about staying with us. We hope you might consider visiting again on a quieter weekend to experience that side of Retro Staycations too!
Thanks again for your feedback and for choosing us for your stay.

Liked We loved the human side of it. Both ladies who welcomed and supported us were absolutely fantastic. Installations and appliances were also great. Safety was also goods and my wife who does not like camping due to feeling unsafe loved staying there which is quite a miracle.

Really enjoyed our stay!
Powered grass site
Liked Sarah, the host-most welcoming. Good communication!
Reasonable price for pitch
Quietness of site
Cleanliness of toilets and showers
Undercover lounge area available for guests, with fridge/freezer and tv
Excellent mobile signal( I am o2) and TV signal
Little farm s
Loved the lights around the top of field, and colour changing lights on some of the trees
Shop at end of track open 24/7 was an added bonus
Disliked Only constructive criticism I would say, is, because there is no specific pitch markers, if you go out during the day in your campervan/motorhome, there is no saying how close a new neighbour parks when you return to the site (as noted on our final night) as they were a little too close, and there was little privacy

From the manager: Thank you so much for this lovely, detailed review — we're thrilled you enjoyed your stay, and it's wonderful to hear the toilets, showers, mobile signal, lounge area and our field lighting all added to the experience!
Regarding pitch markers — this is something we recognise can come up with our free camping/unmarked pitch layout, especially as many campers like to leave their own markers out to reserve their space while they're off exploring for the day. The trade-off is that, unlike most sites with fixed pitch boundaries, you're not restricted to a set pitch size, giving everyone a bit more flexibility with how they set up. We do try our very best to guide newly arriving guests on spacing, but we completely understand how returning to find a neighbour parked a little too close can affect your sense of privacy.
Thanks again for taking the time to share such thorough feedback, and we'd love to welcome you back!

Powered grass site
Liked Fantastic and friendly site thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days there. Sarah was very helpful and accommodating as our tent needed a little more space. We loved the donkeys in the field behind us and the local farm shop. There is a lovely communal area with a TV which our 14 year old throughly enjoyed.
Thank you for a lovely camping holiday
