What customers say
Awesome elevated views, peaceful spot for Lake District/Yorkshire Dales. Hosts super friendly, facilities clean (composting loos, hot showers), eco-friendly. Lovely quiet vibe, farm animals. Minor gripes: narrow roads, shower temps, toilet smells sometimes.

Unpowered concrete and grass motorhome site
Liked I like to try and have at least two visits a year spring and autumn. Although the site is just a stone's throw from the motorway it seems secluded and very rural. The site suits me and my V W van very well, a completely different world to the over populated area I now live in. So handy for both the Yorkshire Fells and the Lakes . I haven't put any stars down for wifi because the phone is something I like to get away from when I'm camping.
Disliked Nothing to dislike at all.

Excellent small site with large pitches and great facilities.
Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked Loved the large pitches on a small campsite with spectacular views. The undercover cooking area with a fridge was a bonus as it rained a lot during the trip. Beautiful views of the hillsides and sheep and horses for neighbours, and you can purchase fresh milk, eggs and cheese.

Lovely area, great tent and facilities.
2 bedroom safari tent
Liked Well equipped, spacious family sized camping tent.
Remote location, ideal for peace and quiet and retreat from every day hectic life.
Disliked The roads leading to the camp site are mainly single track or narrow. An uncomfortable drive in a big car.
The site is beautiful and maybe a little too quiet for young children.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked Beautiful views, quiet and peaceful. Lovely fell walks from the doorstep so no need to use the car.
Lovely friendly host. Generously sized pitches.
Disliked Compost toilets situated in full sun so can get very hot inside and a bit smelly.

Wonderful site + Wonderful Host
Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked We have just returned from Shepards Crag Glamping and I have to say what an outstanding site!
The views are incredible, the site was immaculate and Joe who runs the site was super accommodating and welcoming. He even let the children help him feed the lambs, which they all loved (have to say including the adults)
We came a group and had the whole site which was perfect as we had the combination of Glamping pods / safari tent for the less experienced campers and then the further 2 pitches.
We will certainly be making this an annual trip to this site and look forward to returning.

Peace and quiet, level pitches.
Compost loos are clean and there's a very handy communal kitchenette.
Joe was very friendly and helpful, letting us store our stuff in a secure and dry area during a storm.
The locally produced Wensleydale Cheese is delicious!!

Liked Peaceful site. Lovely view. Walks from the campsite onto the hills and very attractive limestone pavements behind. Friendly owners. Facilities were clean. Good places nearby include Leighton Moss RSPB reserve, other reserves in South Cumbria, Kirby Lonsdale and Settle.

We had the best time here…
Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked We had the best time here in early July this year. So peaceful with such incredible views.
You are on a working farm which we thought was very special; surrounded by characterful sheep and dairy cows. The farm dairy is very reasonably priced and stocks their cheese and raw milk.
Joe, the shepherd who runs the campsite, was really helpful and it was nice to see him each morning on his way to check on his sheep. There are good facilities which were topped up daily. Composting loos, which were quite a novelty and hot showers. There was shampoo provided for showers and washing up liquid for the kitchen. There's a gas stove and also a fridge. Everything you could possibly need!
A great spot, perfectly placed between the Lakes and the Dales, whilst also being close to Arnside and Silverdale - it was particularly special being so close to the coast. Only three pitches and then two glamping options, so nice and small and quiet (I imagine quiet even if full, but we only had two lots of campers including us whilst there).
We'll definitely be booking again!
