Surrounded by craggy views and hikes from the doorstep, Shepherd’s Crag Glamping is a peaceful sort of place – and it's kept that way by only having a handful of guests at any one time to stay at this lovely site surrounded by the gorgeous Cumbrian countryside. Feel free to be as active or as lazy as you like here – if you choose the latter there are views of the Yorkshire Dales and Ingleborough to accompany any mid-afternoon chats or naps, plus evenings by the barbecue or firepit. What might a day go like here? Once you’ve rolled out of the hay and rustled up something to eat using the shared gas cooking (with washing-up facilities and ice pack freezing also available), you might want to head to the rear of the site. From there, it’s a short walk to the Hutton Roof Crags, Newbiggin Crags and Farleton Knott, which together have far-reaching views of the Lake District and the sea (this area is a hot walking, hiking, climbing and mountain biking spot, by the way). Shepherd’s Crag Glamping is on a family farm, and guests have access to simple facilities like charging points, two composting loos and hot showers (as it’s such a small site, there should never be too long to queue). Plus, all the pitches are carefully positioned to give you your own space and privacy while still taking advantage of the great views. When you’re ready to get into the role of intrepid explorer, the Lake District National Park is 20 minutes’ drive away, as is the Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape. The Yorkshire Dales are 25 minutes’ drive away too.

Campeggio tranquillo con viste spettacolari e accesso diretto a sentieri. Ospitalità eccellente, strutture pulite e ben attrezzate (incluse docce potenti). Toilette ecologiche apprezzate, anche se a volte con odori. Legna umida e acqua calda alle docce a maggio 2024 segnalate. Strada sterrata di accesso impegnativa.

Mi è piaciuto we really enjoyed our stay at shepherds crag glamping. it was exactly what we expected and we had a lovely time! Joe took the time to chat with us and showed us a little bit of his life on the farm!

Mi è piaciuto Excellent views that are just stunning and instantly make you feel at peace.

Joe who runs the campsite is great and is very happy to have a chat with you about his Rough Fell sheep. He was very welcoming and made sure to introduce himself to everyone on site.

The site is eco friendly and everything is done in a sensitive way for the environment.

We loved that there is only a limited number of pitches as it was peaceful and we had the site to ourselves at some points.

Facilities were great. The shower pressure is better than at home!

We wish we could have stayed for longer and want to come back already!

Mi è piaciuto LOVED the safari tent and the views, how quiet it is ( we was probably the only noise) the area was great too.

We stayed with our 7 month old baby before we had him we loved camping but haven’t found anywhere in budget that’s baby friendly without taking too much with us and it had everything we needed and our baby had the best sleep and so did we, showers and toilets were clean but also just what you expect from a compost loo, some people may say the drive to the site is an inconvenience but we call it the fun drive, will also be putting a review on tiktok - Katie.barnesx. Thanks to Joe and his family for the best stay 🩵

Mi è piaciuto The most wonderful location with a gorgeous view to match - we barely wanted to leave the porch! All the equipment and facilities were great with comfortable beds and great night sleeps for everyone. Easy to get up to the Newbiggin Crags walks which was well worth it and accessible even with a toddler in tow.

Mi è piaciuto Situation of site was beautiful. Amazing walks from site. Joe was very helpful and concerned that we had read they supplied electricity when they had stopped it years ago. He immediately dealt with the information being wrong. Showers were amazing for such a wild site.

Non mi è piaciuto Toilets were not the best but love the idea of environmentally friendly. Fridges looked like a health hazard with old food left in them and a good clean or even replacement required.

Mi è piaciuto Loved this place!!! The girls loved the “loo with a view!” Hahah!! Really good adventure for a couple of days, s’mores, campfire potato’s….. brilliant time!

Mi è piaciuto This is a fantastic site in a great location.
Joe was very welcoming and explained exactly what to expect being next to the working farm.

The site itself is only small, which we loved, it is a world away from the busier sites and really allows you to sit and unwind.

The views mean you can sit and watch to fully relax, or you can use it as a base and go straight out onto the nearby crags and start exploring.

Overall a great site that we will definitely be back to.

Straight to hikes in the Yorkshire Dales National Park (25 minutes’ drive), where some goals might be to hike the Three Peaks or track down waterfalls like Ingleton Falls, Janet’s Foss and Aysgarth Falls? While you’re holidaying here, it might seem like there’s no end to the characterful villages and historic towns. Take Kirkby Lonsdale (15 minutes), for instance, with its independent shops and eateries, 14th-century bridge and Ruskins View over the Lune Valley. There are pretty views all over the place in the Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape (20 minutes) too. The two coastal villages are packed with hiking trailheads, ice cream shops and fish and chips shops.
