  • Pub site a 15-minute drive from Macclesfield and the Peak District
  • Biddulph Grange Garden 15 minutes’ drive; Alton Towers 35 minutes
  • Home-cooked pub fare; beer garden with views; children’s playground
Are you keen to test your hiking mettle on some challenging trails, but equally keen on relaxing in the evening with a nice pint of ale and some home-cooked food in the comfort of a traditional pub? You can combine your interests at Four Trees, a family- and dog-friendly site a 15-minute drive down the A523 from Macclesfield. This family- and dog-friendly site with grassy pitches sits next door to the Harrington Arms, a traditional community pub with a children’s playground and a beer garden from where you can admire the surrounding countryside and the hilly landscape of Peak District National Park in the distance. Epic treks await in the Peak District (15 minutes’ drive) – you might not complete the long-distance Pennine Way, for example, but surely even walking a handful of miles through moorlands and limestone dales will give you bragging rights with your mates. After a few days’ trekking, you might like to wind down with a spot of angling at Bosley Reservoir (five minutes), where you might catch pike and perch (be sure to contact the local fishing club for permits). While you wait for the big one to bite, keep your eyes peeled for Canada geese, buzzards and other birds. If you’d rather be on the water than on the shore, Rudyard Lake (15 minutes) has a lively sailing club where you can get a permit to launch your canoe or paddleboard (please note, there is no equipment for hire here). The site comes with a toilet block, showers, and a washing-up area with a drying room, plus chemical waste disposal.

What customers say

A tidy, good-value spot. Handy for walks and the pub. Some found road noise and basic facilities bothersome, but management's sorted out pitch size and BBQ rules.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel motorhome site

Liked Location was great, the facilities were as expected. We went into the pub for tea on the Saturday night and the food was divine. It's the best steak I have had in a long time.

Disliked Road was a bit noisy and the weather was rubbish

Fully-serviced grass and gravel motorhome site

Liked Great views in the morning. Pitches are easily accessed and well set out. Great little stopover.

Disliked The facilities are in a container. They’re very clean but cold.
Main road can be noisy but that can’t be helped given where it is but we slept well.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel motorhome site

Liked Next to their pub if you want that.

Disliked I did not stay due to the road noise as it is right next to an A road. Ok if you want food and drink en route somewhere and ok with the traffic noise

Fully-serviced grass and gravel motorhome site

Liked The campsite is run by the Harrington Arms next door. The site is small, easily accessible and always friendly. The rates here are among the best I have ever seen. Nearby, the village is absolutely beautiful with a lovely church yard, some beautiful buildings and lovely people

Fully-serviced grass and gravel motorhome site

Liked The Pub
The Bodley Reservoir walk
Proximity to Biddulph Grange
CCTV CAMERA facing the entrance
Level pitch
Good recycling bin area
Lots of loo roll
Loved the email pre-arrival with arrival details

Disliked The things that can be fixed.
A hose on the tap next to the chem toilet disposal point.
Cut back the foliage over growing the chem toilet area.
A new toilet seat in the single toilet.
Fix the leak on the redring hot water unit, in the single toilet. (Turn it on and see)
Replace the flooring or overlay in both ablution area’s.
The ablutions need a ladies touch. Less like a building site portaloo
The pot wash area is full if junk ( perception is king)

Local attractions

National Trust - Biddulph Grange Garden (15 minutes’ drive) was created in the mid-1800s. In addition to peaceful tree-shaded paths, there is a collection of rhododendrons and the colourful Dahlia Walk, plus themed areas like Egypt (with a topiary pyramid) and the China Garden. Alton Towers (35 minutes) has something for everybody, from vertiginous roller coasters and assorted thrill rides to the gentler, family-orientated attractions at CBeebies Land. On hot summer days, you might want to make a beeline for the waterpark, with its high-speed slides and lazy river. Crossed by canals, Stoke-on-Trent (40 minutes) is renowned for its potteries. Check out the collection of locally produced ceramics at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, where you can also admire the Staffordshire Hoard, a collection of gold and silver objects dating back to the Anglo-Saxon era. And be sure to have a go at the pottery wheel in one of several cafés and activity centres in town.
