  • Small adults-only site in rural North Yorkshire
  • A five-minute drive from Ravenscar; Scarborough 15 minutes
  • Just off the Cinder Track; access to car-free trails; honesty shop
Whitby or Scarborough? Scarborough or Whitby? At Valley View Camping, kiss that age-old dilemma goodbye and settle down somewhere with easy access to both of North Yorkshire's most popular seaside resorts. Driving to either is a breeze – Scarborough is 15 minutes away by road, while you can reach Whitby in about 20. But there are rewards for travelling under your own steam too – the site is a few minutes' walk from the Cinder Track, a traffic-free bike and walking trail that connects up Yorkshire's seaside capitals, passing through lots of scenic spots that you might otherwise miss. Valley View Camping's level grounds are small in scale and overlook peaceful open countryside. It's an adults-only setup too, so the place should stay nice and peaceful while you relax, perhaps settling in for drinks and meals on the picnic tables provided (you're welcome to bring along a barbecue to create those meals if you like). Other facilities on site include an honesty shop, showers, toilets and chemical disposal. In need of village amenities? Here you're a five-minute drive from Ravenscar's tea rooms, public toilets and stony beach. The nearest farm shop is three miles to the south in Cloughton Newlands. When you arrive, just park up and pick your pitch (with any awnings to the right, please).

Unpowered concrete and grass tent or motorhome site

Liked Second time here, facilities still as great as last time. Plenty of hot water, shower and toilet areas clean, honesty shop well stocked and obviously working well. A majority of fellow campers adhere to the rules. Very clean and tidy site. Owners respond to booking queries.

Disliked One man in a pitch nearby seemed intent on asking everyone on site who the culprit was who had complained about him; apparently the previous night (before we were even there) there was arguing and noise coming from his tent at 1.30am and someone had contacted the owners. He complained loudly about this for at least an hour after speaking on the phone to the owner as we arrived. He even asked if it were us until he realised we hadn't been there the previous night. I'm not surprised someone complained to be honest - he smoked weed throughout the entire weekend, drank all afternoon, argued with his partner while we were there and talked at a ridiculous level for a quiet site. He set his pitch up incorrectly meaning the grass pitch next to his was unable to be used by anyone else as he took over this space also. This type of site is not for him as he had very little camping etiquette. Totally beyond the owner's control as they obviously decided he was ok to stay after the phone call but more a warning for others to be aware that you never know who you'll be pitching up with!

From the manager: Hi thankyou for your feedback
Its a shame when one person can spoil it for so many others but if I'd of known the behaviour had carried on I could of come to sort it quite easily our phone numbers are in the pot wash room in case of emergencies, we do hope this hasn't put you off returning to us for a quieter experience .
Thankyou valley view

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked Lovely site, showers and toilets clean, honesty shop is a nice addition to see. The site is well maintained. The farm has the most friendliest cat.
Views and surrounding areas are perfect to get away from everyday life

Disliked No dislikes at all. This is not a complaint by any means just a suggestion, maybe pitch number allocation when booking may cause visitors less confusion on arrival

Woodpecker shepherd's hut

Liked Location,Location,Location. Was perfect for a over nighter from being in scarbrough in the day then a wildlife trip in Whitby. Was so nice going back to the hut. Was greeted by everyone they all was friendly. Best showers we have been in a slong time( shower block) .As the shower were large and large space to get ready. The hut has a toilet right next to it,so had no reason to worry walking to the toilet block in the nighttime. The bed so comfy, slept like a baby. Best bed! Very clean shepard hut and felt special. We didnt use them but the shepard hut camping cooking facillats looked really good. We defo want to come back.4G was okay.

Disliked We cannot fault it but being extra picky coasters( unless we missed them),bigger fridge(if you were staying longer)

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked The campsite is in a lovely location, very close to the Cinder Path.
The facilities were very clean and not too busy.
I loved the kettle, constant hot water in bad weather was amazing 👌
I didn’t use the little honesty shop, but what a great idea .

Disliked The campsite is adult only and so I thought it'd be fairly quiet, but when I was there it wasn't.
I think it would be a benefit if someone checked occasionally as quite a few campers had music and programmes playing very loud...no consideration for anyone else.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked What's not to like about this site. Ideal location for visiting the North Yorkshire coastline. Facilities were spotless with a small honesty shop which had all of your provisions. Lovely hot showers

Disliked Not a complaint about the site, more of the people who don't clean the showers after use. So annoying and disrespectful of other users.

Woodpecker shepherd's hut

Liked Had a great time staying at the Woodpecker shepherd's hut. It is in a lovely secluded location on the campsite tucked in a little valley with the pods a distance away. Great to have flushing outside loo just outside. The hot showers on the campsite are spacious, clean and lovely and hot. Everyone very friendly.
There is an electric hob you can plug in to cook with cooking equipment and a very very small fridge ( just takes a very small carton of milk)
Very quiet and great with no under 18's on site.
Great location for Robin Hood's Bay, Whitby and coastal path.
Felt very safe staying as a solo woman.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked Excellent place and facilities, loos , showers, kitchen area, and honesty shop were great, especially the instant hot water, makes a real difference to waiting for a kettle to boil. Lovely local access to the cider track running from Whitby to Scarborough for walking.

Disliked Only issue was a little to much hardcore in the grass pitches, so difficult to get pegs in. We didn’t see anyone from the campsite, which was ok, but might of been nice to see someone around.

From the manager: Hi thanks for your feedback
There is actually no Hard-core in the grass pitches we just haven't had any rain for months so the ground is rock hard ! We are always pottering around and cleaning the shower block you maybe just didn't realise it was us
Many thanks valley view
