  • Quiet, family-friendly site five minutes’ drive from Withernsea
  • Within walking distance of two nature reserves
  • On-site pond for fishing (at an additional fee) and watching wildlife
Calling all walkers and wildlife spotters… fancy pitching up within strolling distance of not one, but two nature reserves? That’s the deal at Garth Farm Caravan and Camping in Hollym, five minutes’ drive from Withernsea’s coast and 40 minutes from Hull. It's all trees and open fields in the surrounds of this family-run East Yorkshire site, and the pleasing rural views continue at Toffling Hill Reserve (a few minutes’ walk), a place of grassy areas, boundary trees and a shallow pond to explore. Continue your amble for a further 15 minutes to hit the woodland, meadow and open water of Hollym Carrs Reserve, where you should certainly keep an eye out for a variety of birds, mammals and insects while you wander. Back on site, there's a fishing pond for guests to fish from (for an additional fee) or sit around and watch the wildlife do its thing. Facilities on site are kept on the low-key side – with toilets, hot showers and a washing-up area – to ensure minimal impact on the surroundings. Food supplies can be picked up in nearby Withernsea, which has a couple of supermarkets, or Patrington (a five-minute drive), where it's highly recommended that you head to the local butcher to pick up bits for a barbecue. For those with a no-cooking-on-holiday rule, there’s a local pub serving food and drink, and a coffee shop dishing up homemade cakes and sandwiches at Crossroads Garden Centre; both are around 10 minutes’ walk away.

What customers say

A cosy, family-run spot, loved for its peaceful vibe and roomy pitches with water/electric. Spotless loos and showers, and the owners are super friendly and helpful. A few felt toilets were a bit tight in peak times, but it's a top pick for value, walks, and family/dog friendly. Management's sorted out the flies and track access.

Liked Lovely little camp site. Really peaceful and actually managed to relax. The toilets and showers were very clean. My daughter loved feeding and watching the little chick's on site.

From the manager: Thank you for your review - we are really glad you had a lovely time.
You have given us a lower score for "facilities/activities" it would be really good for us to know what it is that guests expect from our site. We are not a holiday park - we are a small CL campsite we offer onsite fishing - have a rope swing and a very large playing field - plenty of toilets and showers - personal water taps on every electric pitch. We do not advertise that we have anything other than what we offer, all guests know what to expect when they visit us. We pride ourselves on being a small, family run site - surrounded by open fields, trees and bridleways, along with sunning night skies on clear nights - allowing guests to relax and unwind in the beauty of nature and for children to just play and be children.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked What can I say? This site is absolutely beautiful, clean, and exceptionally well maintained. For the price, we weren't expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised. The facilities were always spotless and tidy, and the pond kept my husband happily occupied throughout our stay.

The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend the week. The site was peaceful, quiet, and wonderfully relaxing.

With a beach just a stone's throw away, plenty of wildlife to spot, and lovely nature walks to enjoy, there was always something to appreciate. We genuinely didn't want to come home!

We had a fantastic stay and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended.

From the manager: Thank you for your comments. Please remember that we are only a CL(Certified location) camp site, not a "holiday park". The requirements for a site such as ours is to have 1 toilet and 1 cold wash hand basin - however, we provide 3 free adjustable showers, hot water washing up facilities, 2 male and 2 female toilets, plus the large family shower room private toilet - along with drinking water on every electric pitch. If you are looking for sites with more facilities you would be better visiting a large holiday park site. We appreciate that not all sites are for everyone - when we did our facility checks thought the day there was never any wait for any of the amenities - on a fully booked bank holiday/ school half term weekend (hottest weekend of the year so far)
Thank you Garth Farm

From the manager: It always amazes me when guests leave a review almost 2 months after visiting our site.

You can see from other guest reviews how clean and tidy the facilities are - these reviews where made at the same time of year as your booking. During the hight of summer the facilities are cleaned and restocked at 10am and 4pm and checked regularly throughout the day. Im not quite sure what you are basing your review on?
For a one night stay paying £25 including electric, a large pitch, private water tap, plenty of showers and toilets how this can not be value for money?

Good luck finding a site that is as well kept as ours for the same money.

Local attractions

Swap the rural scenes for seaside ones with a trip to Withernsea (less than 10 minutes by car). Along with arcades, shops, cafés and, of course, the beach, there’s also a lighthouse here with a museum; energetic visitors can clamber up the 144 steps to the top for pretty views. Anglers should make time for some fishing in Holmpton (less than 10 minutes), which has a couple of public fishing ponds. While you’re in the village, delve into the underground nuclear bunker at the former RAF Holmpton. Watery activities continue at Hornsea Mere, the largest freshwater lake in Yorkshire (40 minutes), with rowing, sailing, boat trips and fishing. It’s a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Protection Area for birds, so it’s a great spot for birdwatching, too. There are more sights to be had on dry land, such as the Elizabethan Burton Constable Hall & Grounds (35 minutes). Day trips to Hull city (40 minutes) come stacked with kid-friendly attractions, including The Deep aquarium (home to more than 3,500 marine creatures).
