What customers say

Field House: a top-notch, tranquil spot with stunning views and heaps of room. Eco-friendly facilities, especially the showers among the trees, got a big thumbs-up. The coffee barn was a winner for food and drinks. Families loved the small play area and farm animals. Despite a few minor niggles like hot water or composting loos, most folks raved about it and plan to come back.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Lovely site, was very apprehensive as this was our first time camping with two young children. But the site had a laid back, chilled out vibe which suited us perfectly. The eco friendly facilities were something we haven’t experienced before and were really impressed of how well kept and clean they were! The owners were lovely. Everything was clean & tidy and everything we needed. We had a lovely time, thank you for making our first family camping trip easy, comfortable and enjoyable!

Disliked Only a small gripe (but not the sites fault) but had noisy neighbours playing music and Tik toks on their phone until the early hours (think they eventually shut it off at 1.30) so obviously was a bit frustrating for us due to having young kids (1&4) but like I say, this isn’t the sites fault. I suppose some people just don’t respect the 10pm quiet time rule! But you can expect this anywhere and wouldn’t have minded it as much if we didn’t have younger kids trying to sleep.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Lovely unique flat site with bar and food. Would definitely come back. Good value for money. The toilet shower block were clean and well maintained. Busy, but to be expected as it was August BH weekend. A donkey on site which was a bit of an early morning alarm for my husband but I didn't hear as I had earplugs in. Next to a potato(?) field which they were harvesting when we were there.

Disliked Not a huge fan of eco toilets but they were clean and always toilet roll available which is the important thing.

Powered grass caravan site

Liked Exceptional vistas, decent coffee barn serving coffee, beers, wines and confectionery

Disliked Not so much of a dislike, the only problem we found was pitches not marked out which in our case lead to much confusion on where to park-up. But no biggie really plus the fact we did rock up on the August bank holiday weekend. But don’t let this put you off

Local attractions

Designed by Queen Elizabeth I’s master mason, Burton Agnes Hall (25 minutes’ drive) is a great example of late 16th-century Tudor architecture. Its rooms house collections of decorative arts and paintings, while outdoor spaces include a walled garden with a yew maze and dense woodland with an adventure course for kids. Take a stroll around York city centre (40 minutes), taking in the Shambles and other cobbled streets lined with half-timbered buildings, before heading to the medieval York Minster, with its splendid stained-glass windows and rooftop walk. The Jorvik Viking Centre explores the city’s Viking heritage. For a day at the beach, Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast (40 minutes) has open beaches and sheltered coves, plus miles of chalk cliffs inhabited by guillemots and puffins (RSPB Bempton Cliffs). A lovely walk takes you up to the 17th-century Old Flamborough Lighthouse and on to the Flamborough Sea Arch, jutting out into the sea.
