Surrounded by the spectacular landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds, with far-reaching views over open countryside, Field House is a peaceful farm site a 15-minute drive from the East Yorkshire market town of Driffield. Nature is all around here, with owl boxes in the high trees and a wooded area where you’re sure to spot (or at least hear) a variety of birds. Ponies, donkeys and cattle graze the surrounding paddocks, and colourful wildflowers can be seen in season too. On site, guests have access to eco-friendly compostable toilets and hot-water showers (including a roofless one where you can look up at the tree canopy during your ablutions). Other amenities include free USB solar charging and paid EV charging. Please remember to bring a torch, since there are no lights in or around the amenities. Take a walk on the vast network of public footpaths (including a 3.5-mile route to the local fish and chip shop), or hop on your bike and set off on the coast-to-coast route (Way of the Roses), which is directly accessible from the farm gates. Depending on what’s in season, some local produce is sold on site, including fresh eggs straight from the resident happy hens. There's a spacious, dog-friendly coffee barn on site with views over the Yorkshire Wolds, which serves a good selection of homemade food and has a licensed bar. Open every day (during the evenings on Friday and Saturday), it also has table tennis and sells locally made gifts. For more supplies, it's about a quarter of an hour’s drive to Sledmere House and Gardens, the site’s nearest stately home, with a well-stocked farm shop. Alternatively, you can head into Driffield – and not just for provisions, but also pub trips, meals out or waterside strolls along the Driffield Navigation.

Goed onderhouden, milieuvriendelijke camping met rustige, basic sfeer. Ruime plekken, mooie uitzichten. Geprezen: koffiebar, vriendelijk personeel, dieren. Bos speelplaats, buitendouches populair. Ik was blij met My second stay here. Great quiet stay. Compost toilets and showers very good. Easy access to the countryside, and very helpful hosts. It was great to have the option of reduced fee as a solo traveller too 🙏🏻

Ik was blij met Lots of space and quiet even though there was a mixed aged group on site. We love the coffee barn anyway food and service is always excellent. Lots of walks and cycle routes and the grandchildren love the animals.

Ik was niet blij met The composting toilets can get smelly especially when the site is busy and the den/play area is getting a bit sad.

Ik was blij met We really love this site for its back to basics set up. It's our 3rd time visiting and we'll definitely be back again. Cute coffee barn on site too which did a lovely breakfast.

Ik was niet blij met The cafe/bar wasn't open on an evening this year which was a shame.

We’re sorry you were disappointed that the café/bar wasn’t open in the evenings during your stay. As a small family-run business in a rural location, we have to carefully balance opening hours with staffing availability and demand. We do open on Friday and Saturday evenings throughout the summer holidays and, whenever possible, on additional evenings when the campsite is particularly busy or events are taking place.

Ik was blij met Very clean and tidy site. Friendly and helpful owner
We stayed on non electric field. Freedom to pitch anywhere. Unlimited pitch size. Superb views. Lovely coffee barn with live acoustic artist on Friday evening.

Ik was niet blij met The showers ran out of hot water by 10 of 11 am as did the washing up. This wouldn't stop us coming back but would be a better experience to have hot water access.

We’re sorry there was an issue with the hot water during your visit. Unfortunately, the electric supply to the hot water feed had tripped off unexpectedly. As soon as we were made aware of the problem, we were able to quickly rectify it and restore the hot water supply.
With hindsight, I should have contacted all guests to keep everyone informed while we resolved the issue, and I apologise for the lack of communication on this occasion.

Ik was blij met Beautifull location, well kept grounds , lovely walks. The bar is exceptional & friendly staff. Recomend The Englush breakfast with localy sorced food.

Ik was blij met Gorgeous views, lovely spacious site, nice hot showers, friendly greeting from staff.
Perfect restful stop on a backpacking trip.
Would have been outstanding if the path into the back of the site has shown up on my map as it would have saved a good couple of kms pounding tarmac.
If hiking in, do make contact before to get the footpath info as it shows as completely impassable on both paper and online mapping.

Designed by Queen Elizabeth I’s master mason, Burton Agnes Hall (25 minutes’ drive) is a great example of late 16th-century Tudor architecture. Its rooms house collections of decorative arts and paintings, while outdoor spaces include a walled garden with a yew maze and dense woodland with an adventure course for kids. Take a stroll around York city centre (40 minutes), taking in the Shambles and other cobbled streets lined with half-timbered buildings, before heading to the medieval York Minster, with its splendid stained-glass windows and rooftop walk. The Jorvik Viking Centre explores the city’s Viking heritage. For a day at the beach, Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast (40 minutes) has open beaches and sheltered coves, plus miles of chalk cliffs inhabited by guillemots and puffins (RSPB Bempton Cliffs). A lovely walk takes you up to the 17th-century Old Flamborough Lighthouse and on to the Flamborough Sea Arch, jutting out into the sea.
