The meadow

  • Back to basics rural site in a peaceful Warwickshire meadow
  • Birmingham, Tamworth and Drayton Manor within half an hour's drive
  • A few minutes' walk from a farm shop
Set in a stunning meadow, Nightingales Rustic Camping is a back to basics site in Warwickshire with plenty of room between pitches and well-maintained communal toilet and shower facilities. There are designated spots where you can light up a fire as well (it doesn't get much more atmospheric than sitting together around flickering flames as the setting sun streams over the meadow…). Nightingales Rustic Camping is a few minutes' walk away from a farm shop where you can pick up a whole host of top-quality produce, and it's about a 10-minute drive to nearby Atherstone and its many amenities, which include a railway station, supermarket, restaurants and a leisure centre. Although this site is pleasingly rural in atmosphere, Nightingales Rustic Camping is in a very convenient location – Birmingham city centre, Drayton Manor Theme Park and the market town of Tamworth can all be reached by road in under half an hour.

What customers say

A super spacious, rural spot with a chilled, friendly vibe. Campers love picking their own spot, having campfires, and the epic country views. The farm shop's a winner for quality gear. Facilities are basic but do the job, though a spruce-up's been suggested. Areas for quiet and social vibes.

Field stay unpowered grass and earth tent or trailer tent site (large)

Liked Second visit here now, on both occasions receiving a very friendly welcome. The farm shop is great serving lovely food perfect for bbq and at a reasonable price. Lots of space to choose your pitch from with the site split for those who want a bit more of a party atmosphere to those (like myself) who want a quiet space to unwind and relax. Being able to have a campfire with logs on sale is great -facilities are basic but more than adequate, will be def be returning!

Field stay unpowered grass and earth tent or trailer tent site (large)

Liked So much space - pitch where you like, around the sides of a large field. Huge areas for kids to play. It never feels crowded.
Laid back site with lovely owners and a great shop selling farm's fantastic meat. Campfires allowed and very reasonably priced wood and eco-firelighters available in shop.
Portaloos dotted around site, so never too far to go.
Great views from top of field. Rolling hills one way, Brum cityscape in the far distance, the other.
Our second stay here and just as lovely as the first time.

P.S. We ordered pizzas from Pizza Blaze, Kingsbury for our second night, who delivered to the entrance gate. Highly recommended.

Liked Stunning. Separate areas for social/quiet and parked right next to the forest. Farm shop is incredible! 😍 Don't take you're own meat, check its open and most definitely buy from there!

Field stay unpowered grass and earth caravan site (large)

Liked Peaceful quiet site. New toilet and shower blocks which were spotless. Good recycling facilities. Able to find level pitch in field.

Disliked No staff. Wasn't sure where to park on arrival as no instructions or information. There was a map near toilets but not clear if areas were designated for camping/camper vans etc or areas for families. Just parked up and hoped was OK. No phone signal or WIFI. No private cubicles for washing if you didnt want to shower.

Local attractions

There are heaps of options near Nightingales Rustic Camping for busy bees who want to stick to the local area. For a restorative round of the green, take yourself down to Atherstone Golf Club (10 minutes' drive); tiddlers who find the games there rather slow-paced for their liking can be taken to the town's swimming pool (10 minutes) instead. Also close by are Kingsbury Water Park (15 minutes) and Hartshill Hayes Country Park (15 minutes), where there are birds to spot, picnics to be had and a load of nature to take in. More outdoor jaunts can be had at Tamworth Castle (25 minutes), a fearsome Norman fortress overlooking the bustling market town. And don't feel that you have to eschew indoor times just because you're sleeping in the open air – the slopes of SnowDome indoor ski centre (25 minutes) and fab aquatic displays at the National Sea Life Centre (30 minutes) are not to be missed. Kids been on their best behaviour, or need an incentive to keep them that way? The promise of a trip to Drayton Manor Theme Park (25 minutes) should do the job.
