What customers say

Family-friendly spot with great facilities & clean loos. Staff are friendly, pitches spacious. Fishing pools are a hit. Shower charge a bit much for some, and the railway line can be noisy. Good value breakfast at the cafe.

Unpowered grass site

Liked We stayed at Carney Pools Camping and Caravanning for 3 days and 2 nights and had a great experience. The site is very spacious, with plenty of room for camping and for children to play. The toilets and shower facilities were very clean and well-maintained. There’s also a supermarket just an 8-minute drive away, making it very convenient for supplies. The site manager was very friendly and helpful, which made our stay even more enjoyable.

Disliked One small downside is that the on-site shop has limited choices, so you may need to drive out for more supplies. Also, there is no shared fridge available.

Camping pod (four person)

Liked The pod was spacious and clean, the fishing was easy to sort out and well maintained. The area itself was so tranquil and the trains didn't really bother us at all actually.

Disliked The cafe wasn't open, I see reviews how good the breakfast was but they only open when the site is busy which is fair enough.

Liked -Fishing
-Park
-Cannock chase for the children 10 mins down the road. It's a must if you have children, and take a bike with them as they have so many lil bike tracks for them dotted round the forest, as well as loads of lil fun trails where younfind characters and lots of different parks dotted round the forwst also, it really is amazing.
-toilets were clean
- great customer service and let us change dates when we had a vehicle fault and couldn't make our original date.

Disliked -trains, we were on pitch 5 so basically back to back with train lines which went past like every 5 mins, even through the night, not good for a light sleeper.
-A bit too quiet for us, we went during the week because it's summer hols, thinking there would be lots of children there to play with our 3 children, but the place was so quiet, there was basically only us with a tourer and 1 tent on the first 2 nights so the children got bored very quickly with only having the park to keep them occupied.
- The rats, although I know it can't be helped it's out in the wild, but this rat ( we named him coolio haha as he was just not bothered anout people and would casually walk down paths not hiding just in the open) he would literally walk casually within a few cm's to caravan and not flicker an eyelid with us being there, even sitting there why we took a pic. Was funny at the time, but when you're leaving all kids toys out overnight you don't want rats be going all.over them.

Local attractions

Rural break not complete without spotting some animals out in the open? Try your luck on the trails around the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust’s Wolseley Centre (five minutes’ drive) or head to Amerton Farm (15 minutes) to feed lambs, groom horses and see chicks hatching (or let off some steam at the indoor and outdoor play areas…) For more of those peaceful country rambles, spend a thoughtful day at the National Memorial Arboretum or see if you can catch one of the opening dates at Mitton Manor Gardens for some splendid topiary, water features and sculptures. Both are 25 minutes away. Can’t resist the chance to poke about in a palatial country house? Nip over to the National Trust estate at Shugborough Hall or get your imagination going at the remains of Chartley Castle; both can be reached with a 15-minute drive. If that’s all a tad sedate, you may find the thrills of Hednesford Hills Raceway (25 minutes) more to your liking.
