  • Peaceful Shropshire site on the banks of the River Roden near Shawbury
  • Moreton Corbet Castle five minutes' drive; 20 minutes to Shrewsbury
  • Fishing available on site, plus firepits to hire; easy access from A53
Right on the banks of the River Roden and surrounded by Shropshire countryside, Springfield Riverside Camping and Glamping makes a fabulous base for a peaceful break – or one that’s packed with activities and outings. This small and quiet site sits close to Moreton Mill and about a mile from Shawbury – a handy village that’s got a farm shop, a couple of pubs and a fish and chip takeaway, as well as bus stops for car-free travels. It’s also just off the A53, so access is nice and easy for those travelling in cars or other vehicles. Horses, pigs and goats will be among your neighbours at this friendly rural spot, and you’re welcome to bring a dog along to join the menagerie. There’s fishing on site too, with pegs available to hire for a small daily charge. The vibe here is one of relaxing among natural surroundings, so guests are encouraged to bring barbecues or hire firepits on sites for cosy campfire evenings (you can buy firewood on site, so no need to lug your own). Picnic tables are provided for comfy mealtimes, and you’ll also have access to showers, toilets and wifi. When it’s time to explore the local area, there are plenty of options for walks and bike rides nearby, plus a couple more fisheries for the keen anglers. Moreton Corbet Castle is a few minutes’ drive away, and the wider area is home to all sorts of attractions from National Trust properties to the museums of Ironbridge to the animal attractions of Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World.

Liked We found the site and was 20 mins from us, would think you were anywhere , had a new tent to pitch so was ideal to test it out, site is spot on, toilet and shower blocks immaculate, lovely owner , shawbury is 2 mins away with local amenities, did a bit of fishing and the pegs are brilliant just to sit and soak up the sun with a can of beer!! We will be back

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Wonderful weekend stay. The pitches are a good size, all facilities, including the wash-up area, two toilets, and two showers, are kept very clean. The absolute highlight was feeding the animals, which was great fun for the whole family. Wifi worked well at the pitch when needed. We will be returning for our local camping stays in the future!

Disliked The site is gated and close to the road, but it was surprisingly quiet; we only heard a passing ambulance.

From the manager: We look forward to you coming back to see us. I am sure the animals enjoyed having you here just as much as you enjoyed feeding them. Really pleased you enjoyed your time and found it clean, tidy and quiet. Take care from us all at Springfield

Liked From the moment you arrive, you are made to feel so welcome. Everything about this place is absolutely fantastic — the facilities are spotless, the toilets are clean, and there is animal feed available so you can get up close and enjoy feeding the animals.

The owners/staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming, and honestly, we couldn’t find a single negative. The sheep, goats and alpacas were absolutely amazing, and the whole place has such a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere.

It was exactly what I needed — a chance to switch off from the normal stresses of everyday life and just enjoy being somewhere beautiful and peaceful. I genuinely had a little burst of happiness while we were here, and I didn’t realise how much I needed that until I arrived.

We honestly didn’t want to leave! ❤️ We will 100% be visiting again and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere peaceful, welcoming and full of character. An absolute gem! 🐑🦙🐐❤️

Unpowered grass site (deluxe)

Liked Lovely peaceful location and plenty of space for each pitch! We had a deluxe non electric spot and it was perfect as right by the fishing peg for us to use. The children loved feeding the animals with the food Renee supplied us to give them as well. The toilets and showers were absolutely spotless, and the refuse and recycling section was clean and tidy. Nothing was too much trouble for Renee, lovely and friendly so we will definitely be returning!

Disliked No cons, was a fabulous couple of days despite the weather!

Liked Had a lovely weekend at this campsite. Lady who welcomed us is like an angel. So warm and friendly and kind. Site is very well maintained, peaceful and quiet, with spotless facilities. There are alpacas and sheep on site, and every morning lady is going round the tents and gives food for them so you can go and feed alpacas 🤩Its a great entertainment for whole family. We will be definitely coming back to this site, see you soon 🤩

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked The whole campsite was lovely clean and peaceful. The lady that owns it was so welcoming had a lovely chat with you and explained everything that was around the area to do also where all the shops were

She also was so friendly with the children and they all seemed to like her and gather round her when she pulled onto the field where we were staying which I thought was so lovely 🥰

Personal touch of giving you animal feed upon arrival and throughout your stay was amazing the little things go along way ❤️❤️
