  • Peaceful Shropshire site on the banks of the River Roden near Shawbury
  • Moreton Corbet Castle five minutes' drive; 20 minutes to Shrewsbury
  • Fishing available on site, plus firepits to hire; easy access from A53
Right on the banks of the River Roden and surrounded by Shropshire countryside, Springfield Riverside Camping and Glamping makes a fabulous base for a peaceful break – or one that’s packed with activities and outings. This small and quiet site sits close to Moreton Mill and about a mile from Shawbury – a handy village that’s got a farm shop, a couple of pubs and a fish and chip takeaway, as well as bus stops for car-free travels. It’s also just off the A53, so access is nice and easy for those travelling in cars or other vehicles. Horses, pigs and goats will be among your neighbours at this friendly rural spot, and you’re welcome to bring a dog along to join the menagerie. There’s fishing on site too, with pegs available to hire for a small daily charge. The vibe here is one of relaxing among natural surroundings, so guests are encouraged to bring barbecues or hire firepits on sites for cosy campfire evenings (you can buy firewood on site, so no need to lug your own). Picnic tables are provided for comfy mealtimes, and you’ll also have access to showers, toilets and wifi. When it’s time to explore the local area, there are plenty of options for walks and bike rides nearby, plus a couple more fisheries for the keen anglers. Moreton Corbet Castle is a few minutes’ drive away, and the wider area is home to all sorts of attractions from National Trust properties to the museums of Ironbridge to the animal attractions of Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World.
