What customers say

Clean, well-kept site, friendly staff. Spacious, level pitches, spotless loos & showers. Handy for town, shops, pubs. Peaceful despite being near the city. A few noted shower queues at busy times & tricky speed bumps.

Power optional grass site

Liked Owner was very helpful and even gave us a long electric cabel

Disliked Shower was bad. It is completly on grass, so if it rains, it gets muddy fast.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Shilas, sorry but i don't understand your comment about the shower? How was it bad?
The pitches are all grass pitches which it tells you on booking, there is no mud on site, nor has there been for the entirety of the season, the ground is rock hard and the little rain we have had has not been enough to soak in to make the ground muddy so you have left us completely baffled.
We do hope this will not stop you from visiting us again and wish you happy camping.
Kind regards
Karen & Mick.

Power optional grass site

Liked Generous pitch, friendly welcome, clean facilities, playground, quiet during quiet times. Less than 5 minutes to Asda, Lidl, Aldi and McDonalds! We visited: Watermeadows swimming pool, Sherwood Forest, Nottingham, Sherwood Observatory, Bakewell, Derby, Mansfield and Chesterfield.

Disliked Nothing - just be careful on the speed bumps!

Power optional grass site

Liked Nice clean facilities, good for families, seemed to be plenty fun but not rowdy, friendly staff - within walking distance to fast food , a large supermarket and a pub

Disliked Lock on shower in men’s didn’t work very well and you have to keep button pressed on the shower to keep the water coming.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review, the issue with the lock has now been dealt with, the push button showers are designed to save water, however we are looking into weather or not we can alter the length of time they can stay on.
Happy camping, kind regards

Gail W.

Power optional grass site

Liked A nice flat pitch. Facilities were very clean and grounds well kept. Friendly and helpful wardens. Good location for Sherwood Forest and other tourist attractions. Though the site was full I had a spacious pitch and did not feel overwhelmed with noisy families.

Disliked The site would benefit from a couple more showers and perhaps a camping essentials shop on site. I would have liked to be able to walk to the lake but this was for residents only. The website advertises a small library and freezer block facilities but this was locked up.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Gail, thank you for your review, just to let you know, should you book another stay with us, the lake is open to the public, and for fishing, we just ask on the rules for people not to wander around the holiday homes willy nilly and for children not to play around them.
There are some benches around the lake for people to sit on and relax.
The Library and Freezer shed now operates on a key deposit system, as some campers were leaving the fridge and bookshelves dirty and untidy.
A £10.00 deposit is now charged for a key for the length of the stay and is returned to the customer after checking things have been left clean and tidy, these are available from the office @ number 16.
If ever in doubt of anything, please always ask either myself or Mick and we will be happy to help.
Wishing you happy camping and hoping to see you again soon.
Kind regards

Local attractions

Take a spot at Tall Trees for all sorts of leisurely local walks: stride around Robin Hood’s old stomping ground, 450-acre Sherwood Forest, or take in one of the trails through the woods and around the lake at National Trust-owned Clumber Park (bike hire can be had here if you prefer to pedal). Both are less than half an hour’s drive from the park. Creswell Crags, 20 minutes’ drive away, is an enclosed limestone gorge and cave system that’s home to the UK’s only known Ice Age cave art. There’s a great museum here, and rock art cave tours can be had in the spring and summer months. If it’s historic buildings you’re after, head to 16th-century Hardwick Hall, or to medieval Newstead Abbey (home to a collection of objects belonging to former resident Lord Byron). Rufford Abbey Country Park is a good place for woodland walks around the abbey ruins.
