General

  • Just west of Ingoldmells and five miles Skegness
  • Pub and restaurant on site with a large choice of beers and wines
  • Family-friendly atmosphere and newly-renovated amenities

If you're off for the day to Ingoldmells, how about a huge English – or veggie – breakfast first before a 15-minute stroll into town? And then another stroll – or a taxi – back, for dinner and an evening's relaxing in a family-friendly pub and restaurant? Have a stay at friendly and welcoming The Kings Head, just west of Ingoldmells in the small town of Addlethorpe.

In a peaceful setting near Skegness and with easy access to the sights and attractions of Lincolnshire and beyond, the Kings Head is a family-run pub and restaurant with high standards, a welcoming vibe and homecooked food alongside a wide range of beers and wines.

It's a five-minute drive from Ingoldmells (although you might opt to walk each day if you're having the full English beforehand) and less than five miles from more seaside days at Lincolnshire's most visited seaside town Skegness.

The Kings Head team used the 2015–16 winter season to fully overhaul the site shower block to high standards, installing a new heating system so that whatever the weather, all days can start off with a piping hot shower. And then a mega big breakfast, and then – perhaps – another stroll into Ingoldmells, a drive into Skegness or a potter along the Lincolnshire coast…?

Please note

Dogs are not allowed in the on-site accommodations.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Customers are not permitted to drive campervans and motorhomes on and off during their stay. Please bring a car along if you are thinking of visiting nearby attractions.

    1. A lovely bunch of hard working friendly staff
2,. Very quiet site - a perfect location
    3. The shower/toilet block was absolutely pristine
    4. Lots of room around our caravan

    Disliked:

    1. The family friendly pub is just a regular pub - my understanding of family friendly is also child friendly we brought a 2, 5 and 7 year old. - Apart from the inflatable castle (which disappeared after the first day) a pool table and the slide, there wasn't anything for them to do. One night the pub was empty and it would have been nice to let them in and watch TV. But - Ingoldmells was only 2 miles away.
    2. No WIFI

Thought I would post a review for those with young families as a lot of good things
about this site but also some improvements could be made to make this site great.
    Good points:
We arrived on Saturday after booking late Friday night initially booking for 1 night. On arrival with our caravan we were shown our pitch which he nicely upgraded us FOC from a grass pitch to hard standing with electric. The site is small and we we were right in front of the recently refurbished toilet blocks which were really nice on arrival. As the name suggests, the site is in the grounds of a pub. The food was good (especially the breakfast) and included a pool table, slot machines etc. Its a good base if you have a car to get to the beach/Fantasy Island a few miles away. We asked if it was possible to extend our stay and it was for an additional £30/night which was great.

    Disliked:

    Bad points:
The pub is very old fashioned and could do with a lick of paint and refurbishing. I appreciate this all costs money but just a word of warning for those expecting a pristine site and modern pub.
The kids area outside must be 30 years old and was missing a couple of swings. The slide was wobbly and could easily be fixed down to make secure with a new swing and could do with being properly maintained.
The second morning the toilets were not nice at all. My wife said the ladies were very dirty and the men's were equally as bad with overflowing toilets which had blocked the drains outside. Toilet roll and 'human dirt' starting coming up through the outside 'Clean' water point and flowing into the grass. I reported the problem and was told to use the pub toilets. They were eventually cleaned a few hours later but not the most hygienic especially for campers needing clean water source. If they were checked every hour this wouldn't have happened.
Cars are not allowed on site (except for loading/unloading) and must be parked in the carpark which is fine if you can get parked. We struggled on the second night as a function in the pub.

Local attractions

Ingoldmells five minutes drive or 15 minutes' walk from The Kings Head is probably best known for its theme park Fantasy Island, with indoor and outdoor rides and the world’s longest suspended rollercoaster. Shops, arcades and a huge indoor market open seven days a week are recommended stopoffs in town too.

The nearest beach from the pub is a mile away, more sands are at Skegness five miles away, or you could travel a bit further up the coast to other Lincolnshire seaside towns like Sutton on Sea and Mablethorpe, and inland for the non-strenuous strolls and cycles of the flat Lincolnshire Wolds.

Plenty of family options as well as the seaside resorts are handy from here if you're around with the kids, such as the open-air museum of The Village Church Farm, telling the tale of rural British life before mass urbanisation, alongside family activities like chicken feeding, fancy dress, bug hunting and storytelling – do drop in to say hi to Bob the Hornsby steam engine too.

Also see nearby Walsingham Abbey, a monastic house and place of pilgrimage until it was destroyed (boo) by bad old Henry 8 in the sixteenth century. The ruins of the medieval priory still spectacularly stand today; take a guided tour of Walsingham to see all the spots of interest as well as the shrines and pilgrimage history of the village.
