  • Well-maintained peaceful caravan park in the heart of Peak District
  • A 15-minute drive from Bakewell and 20 minutes from Chatsworth House
  • Walks direct from the pitches and a welcoming pub 10 minutes’ stroll
Cows and sheep for neighbours, gorgeous walks from the pitches and the likes of Bakewell (home of delicious almond-flavoured tarts) and Chatsworth House within 20 minutes’ drive… who could turn down a Peak District National Park getaway at Brosterfield Farm Caravan Park? What a stunning and peaceful place it is, too: the camping meadow is surrounded by fields and operates as a quiet site, which means no loud noise or music allowed, please, as the owners want you to relax and get back to nature. Spotless facilities include modern showers, toilets, a pot-washing area and a chemical disposal point. In addition, there are a couple of electric-car charging points as well as recycling facilities in the corner of the camping field. Barbecues are allowed (bring your own from home), and you can stock up on bits for the grill at the supermarket in Bakewell. Your canine chums (up to two per pitch) are also welcome, and luckily, the local pub is dog-friendly (both inside and out) with an excellent restaurant, open fires and good ales. It’s only 10 minutes’ walk away in the pretty village of Foolow, which has a duck pond and is the start of many Peak District walks and mountain-biking trails.

What customers say

Quiet site, stunning spot & modern facilities. No music policy is a winner. Spacious pitches, often on the edge. Local pub's a hit. Toilets can get busy at peak times, with a few wanting more cubicles. Staff are helpful.

Liked Loved that showers , toilets, wash up area was so clean.
Loved that we could have a BBQ.
Great location with local walks.

Disliked I do wonder if amount of toilets/ showers will be adequate when busier. However was great for us as sure generally quiet.
No wifi in our area and by time we realised was too much of a faff to move…

Unpowered grass site

Liked Really loved the quiet big open site ( only 4 or 5 other pitches taken whilst I was there). Facilities nice & clean. Warden friendly.
The village pub The Bull’s Head had really lovely staff & great food, with the added bonus of 10% discount for staying at Brosterfield. 😁
Short walk or drive to it. Ideal location for exploring the area.
Didn’t use WiFi as I had great phone signal.

Disliked Just concerned the press down taps in the Ladies toilets were so slow switching off & it seems a waste of water 😳
Nothing else to dislike 😁

Unpowered grass site

Liked Lovely, quiet campsite with excellent facilities. It was really nice how the pitches were only around the perimeter of the field so it didn't feel as cramped as other campsites. The location was great too, with plenty of beautiful hiking routes nearby and local pubs within walking distance. Really appreciated how clear the instructions were ahead of arrival too.

Disliked There was a queue for the toilets in the morning as it's a small block, but this really wasn't all that bad.

Local attractions

Hikers can soon be out on the Monsal Trail (10 minutes’ drive), which offers spectacular views over Monsal Dale and the viaduct at Monsal Head. Kids will have fun crossing the stepping stones at Chee Dale (20 minutes), where you can all follow the River Wye through its limestone gorge. Alternatively, families may prefer to spend the day on cable-car rides at the Heights of Abraham (35 minutes), take vintage vehicle jaunts from Crich Tramway Village or enjoy dinosaur trails and adventure golf at Gulliver’s Kingdom (both 40 minutes). Peak District National Park culture vultures among you? As well as a farmyard where kids can meet the animals, stately Chatsworth House (20 minutes) is set in Capability Brown-designed parkland and has a fantastic art collection, while largely 12th-century Haddon Hall (25 minutes) is open for tours of its vaulted banqueting hall and formal Elizabethan gardens. The infamous ‘plague village’ of Eyam (five minutes’ drive) is packed with pretty stone cottages and cute tearooms, and there’s a craft centre at the Jacobean-era Eyam Hall. A former spa town, Buxton (25 minutes) has a lively cultural scene and an acclaimed opera house; book ahead for tickets.
