  • Well-maintained peaceful caravan park in the heart of Peak District
  • A 15-minute drive from Bakewell and 20 minutes from Chatsworth House
  • Walks direct from the pitches and a welcoming pub 10 minutes’ stroll
Cows and sheep for neighbours, gorgeous walks from the pitches and the likes of Bakewell (home of delicious almond-flavoured tarts) and Chatsworth House within 20 minutes’ drive… who could turn down a Peak District National Park getaway at Brosterfield Farm Caravan Park? What a stunning and peaceful place it is, too: the camping meadow is surrounded by fields and operates as a quiet site, which means no loud noise or music allowed, please, as the owners want you to relax and get back to nature. Spotless facilities include modern showers, toilets, a pot-washing area and a chemical disposal point. In addition, there are a couple of electric-car charging points as well as recycling facilities in the corner of the camping field. Barbecues are allowed (bring your own from home), and you can stock up on bits for the grill at the supermarket in Bakewell. Your canine chums (up to two per pitch) are also welcome, and luckily, the local pub is dog-friendly (both inside and out) with an excellent restaurant, open fires and good ales. It’s only 10 minutes’ walk away in the pretty village of Foolow, which has a duck pond and is the start of many Peak District walks and mountain-biking trails.

What customers say

Lovely, quiet spot with roomy, flat sites. Clean, modern facilities including hot showers and good washing-up areas. Well-kept and secure with a gate. Local pub nearby. Can get muddy in rain, and toilets/showers can be busy in peak season. Highly recommended for peace, cleanliness, and great facilities.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Very clean and quiet site despite it being almost full. Easy access and pitches all marked out. Shower and toilet block really nicely kitted out. Hot, powerful showers. Little dog wash hose really useful.
The pub is very close by, an easy walk along pavement. Access to hundreds of walks. Castleton and Bakewell a short drive. Wardens really friendly and happy to help. Will definately stay again.

Disliked Nothing!

Liked A really nice campsite. Some lovely walks close by, especially into Eyam Village. Very clean and tidy showers and toilets. Short 10 minutes walk to a local pub with nice food and good choice of beers. The wardens Aaron and Donna and 2 children are such a nice family. Donna was so helpful with a few things we asked her. We parked our motorhome on here for 2 nights. Would definitely recommend this campsite. Will be returning.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Beautiful surroundings, well kept
Site with good sized pitches. Wood burners and wood available on site but we brought our own.
There was also a Teepee and Yurt available too.
Very quiet and peaceful with immediate access to beautiful countryside and a ten minute walk to a lovely pub.

Disliked The toilets and showers though very clean and well stocked I found to be insufficient for a site of this size as there were only two toilets and three showers. The loos were very cramped.
Slightly more expensive than we would usually pay for a none serviced pitch.

Liked Quiet peaceful scenic site. Lovely walks accessible directly from the site and a really nice pub just down the road serving very good food.

Disliked I think it would be good to have a few more toilets as I imagine it will be very busy in summer.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Loved this incredibly peaceful site, no music or groups made it a very quiet place to stay. Showers were amazing and both toilets and showers were immaculate along with the washing up area too. Owners were incredibly helpful and kept the site in good order, loved the opportunity to buy fresh eggs even just 1 or 2 depending on how many you wanted at the time. The Bulls Head in the village was only 5mins walk away and was a lovely pub with excellent choice of beers, the menu looked very nice too, the little village itself was really pretty with a lovely village pond and little church, there were also buses either to Sheffield or Buxton which was great. A little bit of a longer walk (1.6miles and uphill on the way) up to The Barrel, highest pub in Derbyshire was a beautiful old inn with great views. Will definitely be returning when we need another peaceful break away from it all.

Liked A nice small site, facilities were good close to the pub in Foolow and a good location for accessing The Peak District

Disliked Only 2 showers and 2 toilets (male) for the site, could probably do with 2 more toilets and another shower.

Non electric site, EHU would be good.

From the manager: Thank you Chris for your feedback and I am glad you like our campsite.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Loved the site, the cleanliness of the facilities and the relaxed atmosphere.
Weather was superb but if it had been windy the efforts made to shelter the site would have been much appreciated.

Disliked Only one drinking water stand by the entrance, would suggest installing more taps actually on the site.
Bit of a drains smell around the facilities and feel that the number of showers and toilets was barely adequate considering the proposed number of sites available.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback and I am so glad you loved the suite.

We do have a huge and very long tree lined area which is very sheltered too.

EVERY TAP IS DRINKING WATER - all the taps down at the pot washing area are safe to drink and there is signage to this effect over the sinks, I am so sorry if you did not see it, I will let my warden know and see if we can make it more visible than the signs over the taps.

Local attractions

Hikers can soon be out on the Monsal Trail (10 minutes’ drive), which offers spectacular views over Monsal Dale and the viaduct at Monsal Head. Kids will have fun crossing the stepping stones at Chee Dale (20 minutes), where you can all follow the River Wye through its limestone gorge. Alternatively, families may prefer to spend the day on cable-car rides at the Heights of Abraham (35 minutes), take vintage vehicle jaunts from Crich Tramway Village or enjoy dinosaur trails and adventure golf at Gulliver’s Kingdom (both 40 minutes). Peak District National Park culture vultures among you? As well as a farmyard where kids can meet the animals, stately Chatsworth House (20 minutes) is set in Capability Brown-designed parkland and has a fantastic art collection, while largely 12th-century Haddon Hall (25 minutes) is open for tours of its vaulted banqueting hall and formal Elizabethan gardens. The infamous ‘plague village’ of Eyam (five minutes’ drive) is packed with pretty stone cottages and cute tearooms, and there’s a craft centre at the Jacobean-era Eyam Hall. A former spa town, Buxton (25 minutes) has a lively cultural scene and an acclaimed opera house; book ahead for tickets.
