  • Well-maintained peaceful caravan park in the heart of Peak District
  • A 15-minute drive from Bakewell and 20 minutes from Chatsworth House
  • Walks direct from the pitches and a welcoming pub 10 minutes’ stroll
Cows and sheep for neighbours, gorgeous walks from the pitches and the likes of Bakewell (home of delicious almond-flavoured tarts) and Chatsworth House within 20 minutes’ drive… who could turn down a Peak District National Park getaway at Brosterfield Farm Caravan Park? What a stunning and peaceful place it is, too: the camping meadow is surrounded by fields and operates as a quiet site, which means no loud noise or music allowed, please, as the owners want you to relax and get back to nature. Spotless facilities include modern showers, toilets, a pot-washing area and a chemical disposal point. In addition, there are a couple of electric-car charging points as well as recycling facilities in the corner of the camping field. Barbecues are allowed (bring your own from home), and you can stock up on bits for the grill at the supermarket in Bakewell. Your canine chums (up to two per pitch) are also welcome, and luckily, the local pub is dog-friendly (both inside and out) with an excellent restaurant, open fires and good ales. It’s only 10 minutes’ walk away in the pretty village of Foolow, which has a duck pond and is the start of many Peak District walks and mountain-biking trails.

What customers say

A peaceful, well-kept spot in the stunning Peak District, short stroll to a popular pub. Praised for clean, modern loos & showers, ample space, and secure entry. Mostly quiet, but can get busy with some noise and fewer facilities then. Dog-friendly with nearby walks.

Liked loved the campsite, lovely and quiet for the week we were there! facilities were kept clean, and wonderful showers!
great access to all the great spots in the area.

Disliked could have done with more toilets! two for the ladies and one portaloo up the other side of the field, when it was busy the first few nights it meant they were in demand!

Liked Lovely spot, enclosed so we could let the kids play without any fear. Toilets and showers were kept clean. Water was easily accessible. The money off at the Bulls Head was the icing on the cake (the food was very nice).

Liked Not over crowded, modern shower/toilet

Disliked Over priced, had to queue 5 minutes at 7am for the toilet(only 2 for all the campsite). Couldn’t use the shower as queue was too long and wasn’t prepared to wait for several people getting showered.
£5 a night for a tiny dog is a rip off

From the manager: Thank you for your review, and I’m glad you found the site not overcrowded and liked the modern shower and toilet facilities.
Just to clarify regarding the toilets, there are actually six toilets on site — two ladies, two gents and two unisex toilets. The two unisex toilets are our summer overflow facilities and are located at the top end of the campsite. They are there specifically to provide additional facilities during the busier summer months.
We do deliberately keep the number of pitches limited rather than trying to pack as many people in as possible, particularly during the summer. This does mean our prices can be a little higher than some other campsites, but it allows us to keep the site from becoming overcrowded and gives guests more space.
I’m sorry you experienced a queue at 7am. Unfortunately, even with six toilets available, there can sometimes be a short wait if several guests need to use the facilities at the same time. The two unisex toilets at the top of the site are also available for guests to use.
Regarding the £5 charge for a dog, this charge is clearly shown when making the booking, so the cost is known before the booking is completed. We appreciate that you may feel it is too expensive, but it is not an unexpected or additional charge.
Thank you for your feedback. We will certainly take your comments on board, particularly your suggestion regarding the use of the toilet facilities.

Liked Easy to find, close to the local pub.

Disliked Just not enough showers and toilets for the amount of people there.
Over 50 tents, 2 female toilets.
Toilets weren't overly clean, unfortunately.
People playing music late, even though we selected it for being a quiet campsite.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. I’m sorry that the site did not meet your expectations.
Just to clarify regarding the toilet facilities, we have six toilets on site — two ladies, two gents and two unisex toilets. The two unisex toilets are our summer overflow facilities and are located at the top end of the campsite, specifically to provide additional facilities during the busier months. So there are more than the two female toilets mentioned in your review.

I’m sorry to hear that you found the toilets not overly clean. We do have cleaning routines in place, although with guests using the facilities throughout the day, there can unfortunately be times when they need attention between scheduled cleans. We will keep an eye on this.
Regarding the music late at night, we do advertise the campsite as a quiet site and ask guests to be considerate of others, particularly in the evening. If you experienced excessive noise late at night, we would have been happy to address it had we been made aware at the time.
Thank you again for your feedback. We do take comments seriously and will continue to look at ways of improving the experience for our guests.

Local attractions

Hikers can soon be out on the Monsal Trail (10 minutes’ drive), which offers spectacular views over Monsal Dale and the viaduct at Monsal Head. Kids will have fun crossing the stepping stones at Chee Dale (20 minutes), where you can all follow the River Wye through its limestone gorge. Alternatively, families may prefer to spend the day on cable-car rides at the Heights of Abraham (35 minutes), take vintage vehicle jaunts from Crich Tramway Village or enjoy dinosaur trails and adventure golf at Gulliver’s Kingdom (both 40 minutes). Peak District National Park culture vultures among you? As well as a farmyard where kids can meet the animals, stately Chatsworth House (20 minutes) is set in Capability Brown-designed parkland and has a fantastic art collection, while largely 12th-century Haddon Hall (25 minutes) is open for tours of its vaulted banqueting hall and formal Elizabethan gardens. The infamous ‘plague village’ of Eyam (five minutes’ drive) is packed with pretty stone cottages and cute tearooms, and there’s a craft centre at the Jacobean-era Eyam Hall. A former spa town, Buxton (25 minutes) has a lively cultural scene and an acclaimed opera house; book ahead for tickets.
