What customers say

A grand, well-kept spot with lovely sea views, handy for the beach and train. Staff are grand, the farm shop and cafe are a treat, and the animals are a delight. Generally grand facilities, though a few said more loos needed at busy times. The train line's a big plus for most.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked The location was really good with views over the estuary and towards the mountains. The facilities were adequate, functional and clean.

Disliked Access to the bar very limited. Closed when they had advertised it as open and closed to us when a wedding took place.
The access with caravan thru both gates is really tight.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked The area & pitch were fab, a very clean site. The closeness to the beach was great, just a 5 minute walk & you're on the beach which leads you into the village.
Donkeys, goats & sheep were next to us in the next field, the Donkeys were friendly & loved a head scratch.
The pub & coffee shop on site were great, dog friendly & friendly staff who made you feel welcome.
The village was very quaint & assessable very interesting history which the 'Yarnbombers' told throughout the village in crotcheted memorabilia & history write ups.
Lovely village pub very friendly & dog friendly too.

Disliked The only downside were only 2 toilets each for male & female & although while we were there at the start it was manageable when it became the weekend & got busy it did become a bit of a struggle. But they were very clean.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Lovely location, short walk to beach with beautiful views.
Bar ,cafe and meals on site, nice bar but didn't have opportunity to try the food this time.
Short 5 min walk to attractive village with shop and pub and also train station for scenic train journeys to popular coastal towns north and south.
Level pitch with sufficient room. Staff friendly.
Good phone signal {ee} and TV reception.
I didn't find the passing trains to be a noise problem and didn't seem to start until 7.30.

Disliked Firstly if towing caravan the road to the village is very narrow in places even though it's an A road and near impossible to turn into the site from Fairbourne direction, the option is to turn around at a side road 100 yds past the entrance which could also be difficult if there are cars parked there etc. The entrance needs widening asap.
The facilities are poor and probably not enough when the site is busy ( but were clean ) could really do with new toilets, showers , disabled facilities, waste water and chemical waste disposal points.
New facilities might lead to prices going up , possibly many visitors would opt to leave things as they are with reasonable prices.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the feedback Arthur. We are looking at the best way to extend our shower and loo facilities before next year, so watch this space. We send an email out to campers ahead of their visit with information on accessing the site with large vehicles, and have considered widening the entrance. As a listed building within national park boundaries, this has been a challenge.

This is our 2nd time visiting, recommended to friends

Local attractions

When you set down here, ready your swimming gear, as Bala Lake (40 minutes’ drive) is a fine setting for sailing, wild swimming and canoeing or hiking the hills on all sides. The kit will come in handy for exploring the Barmouth (30 minutes) seafront by paddleboard, too, or windsurfing and kitesurfing in Aberdyfi (20 minutes). If more active pursuits are what you like your holidays chock-full with, Dolgellau (20 minutes) is a good point of departure for hikes, mountain biking or climbing crags. More beach paddles, perhaps, in Tywyn (15 minutes), followed by a traditional butter bun? Perhaps your preferred way of taking in views is from a cosy seat on an old steam train, such as the Fairbourne Railway (five minutes). It’s one of several historical places you might want to seek out – others include the Dyffryn Ardudwy burial chamber (40 minutes) and the Italian-style Portmeirion (50 minutes) village. Plas Brondanw Gardens (50 minutes) was designed by the same architect that created Portmeirion.
