  • Fish for salmon and trout on a private stretch of the river
  • Shop on site; restaurants, pubs and shops within walking distance
Might you want a stay in a riverbank location in pretty Perthshire, with striking mountain views and a scenic section of bank from which to cast off for salmon and trout? Go on, you’ve earned it. Find this – and a fair bit more – at Braidhaugh Holiday Park on the banks of the River Earn, 10 minutes’ walk from Perthshire’s market town of Crieff and listed as a spectacular scenery site for its mountain and river views. You can pick up a permit at reception to fish on Braidhaugh’s own part of the Earn, or use the park as a base for touring Perthshire and other top Scottish sites. Gentle canters on horseback or foot are nearby too: walks of all levels are all around the Crieff area and horse riding is available at Braidhaugh’s sister site in the area, Loch Tay Highland Lodges. Facilities on site include a heated and clean amenities block with free power showers, toilets, a wash area, shaver points and hairdryers. Facilities for disabled guests are in the main shower block. Clothes can be washed, dried and pristinely pressed in the launderette (get the other half to do it, you’re on holiday). Top up essentials and toiletries at the onsite shop, or head into Crieff for more substantial supplies, restaurants, pubs and hotels.

What customers say

A grand spot, clean and quiet with decent staff. Lovely river views, handily near Crieff. Hot tubs a treat, though some pitches tight and Wi-Fi patchy. Wood-fired tubs need a bit of fiddling. Management sorting out pitch size and hedge issues.

Superior camping pod (hot tub, no pets, ensuite)

Liked Liked the hot tub and staff were lovely, nice tranquil location, the bed was comfortable and clean towels for use available in pod.

Disliked Pod was quite dated but ok for a short stay, the water was really hot then really cold and was very difficult to get a good temperature, especially in the shower, and the curtains were a bit mouldy.

Superior camping pod (hot tub, ensuite)

Liked The setting, just inside Crieff, next to the River Earn was delightful. Pod and hot-tub were excellent, with more conveniences than others we've stayed at. Best of all was the staff and their help (in person and on phone), so welcoming and helpful with any request. Surprise visit from Ruby (the cat) each morning was a treat as was the wildlife in the river (heron, ducks & otters). We'll be back.

Disliked Nothing really. Pod was showing a bit of age, but nothing to complain about.

From the manager: Hello Jason,
Thank you for your review.
We're very happy to hear you enjoyed the area during your stay.
We're sorry that the TV signal and Wi-Fi on the touring pitches didn't meet your expectations. As advised before your arrival, the touring area is situated in a dip, which unfortunately prevents us from installing receivers there. This means TV signal and Wi-Fi coverage can be very limited in that part of the park.
We appreciate your understanding and hope to welcome you back again in the future.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked It was in a good location to the places we wanted to visit

Disliked Disappointed with the showers and toilets for the size of the site looking a bit neglected regarding the subarea all around and very small pitches for a awning and car

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi David,
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review.
We're sorry to hear that some aspects of your stay didn't meet your expectations. We appreciate your comments regarding the shower and toilet facilities, and your feedback will be taken on board as we continue to improve the site.
Regarding the pitch size, during the summer months we are unable to cut back the edges around pitches because birds are nesting in the area.. We are committed to protecting local wildlife, so this means pitches can appear smaller than they do during the winter, when we are able to carry out hedge maintenance.
Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

From the manager: Hello Key,
Thank you for your review. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the location and found the site clean, tidy, and well run.
Thank you also for your feedback regarding the touring pitches and the conifers. We understand your comments but we are unable to cut the hedges because birds are currently nesting in them.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch (hot tub)

Liked Excellent location near town. Hot tub

Disliked Having to heat the hot tub and the temp being uncontrollable. Was too cold when we went out for dinner filled more wood in it and when we came back it was boiling. Water pressure at the pitch wasn’t great do it took ages to cool it down

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hello Pauline,
Thank you for your review. We're happy to hear that you enjoyed our location and the hot tub.
We're sorry to hear that managing the hot tub temperature was frustrating. As our hot tubs are wood-fired, they do require guests to monitor and adjust the fire to maintain their preferred temperature. We understand that adding extra wood before going out can sometimes result in the water becoming hotter than expected.
We also appreciate your feedback regarding the water pressure. We'll review this to see if any improvements can be made, as we understand it can be inconvenient when cooling the tub down.
Thank you again for your comments, and we hope to welcome you back in the future.

Disliked Had to pay extra if wanted wifi

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hello Alison,
Thank you for your lovely review.
We'd like to clarify that we do not charge our touring guests for Wi-Fi. Due to our location in a dip within the landscape, the connection can be intermittent and unreliable at times, so we provide it free of charge on request.
That said, we're pleased to see that this didn't detract from your overall stay and that you still had an enjoyable visit with us :)
We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back again in the future.

Local attractions

Ah, Perthshire…you could spend weeks here and still have to go back for more. More fishing, great golfing, red squirrels, country parks and historical highlights including Scotland’s oldest library and Iron Age hill forts – all here, along with the essentials of whisky trailing and big city shopping. Nearby Crieff was a wild-west style cattle rustling town in times of yore; it’s tamer these days but thrillseekers can check out the Crieff Hydro Outdoor Activity Centre to whirl around an aerial adventure course on tightropes, ziplines and cargo nets, or get sporty at some of the dozens of indoor and outdoor pursuits here including golf, riding, swimming and football. The centre has a reputation for being particularly sprog-friendly, as does the popular MacRosty Park: there’s a good-sized children’s playground here for all ages, beside a café for tired parents. From MacRosty, set off along the River Earn to see the trees on Lady Mary’s Walk, one of Perthshire’s most popular strolls for its wealth of wildlife and autumnal blaze. Another top tree-based walk – Perthshire is known as Big Tree Country, after all – is around the oldest managed forest in Scotland, Craigvinean, or the Atholl Estate and its wild tree garden, with possibly the biggest Douglas fir you’ll ever see.
