General

  • Friendly pop-up site in a field behind a Somerset pub
  • Frome 10 minutes' drive; half an hour from Bath city centre
  • Discount in the on-site village pub; pre-ordered breakfasts available

Buckland Field Camping is a small and friendly pop-up site based in a paddock to the rear of a Somerset village pub. Set just behind The Bell Inn in Buckland Dinham, this spot is simple but comfortable, with good amenities including well-maintained toilets, hot and cold showers and a washing-up area.

This is a spot where it's very easy to leave the car behind. There are plenty of bike trails and footpaths in the local Somerset countryside, some of which start pretty much directly at the site gates, or you can catch the D2 bus from just outside the pub to destinations like Bath and Frome. Other Somerset spots like Cheddar and the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are within easy driving distance too.

Other perks of staying here include discounts at the pub, where you can get a hot breakfast if you pre-order by 5pm the evening before. Self-catering is easy too, as Buckland Field Camping allows firepits (off the ground) and may be able to hire you one.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome throughout the camping season at Buckland Field Camping.

Wonderful quiet site with pub, campfires etc for independent campers.08/24/2021

Great, fairly quiet, campsite near Frome and within 45 minutes to an hour of the coast/Glastonbury etc.

Wonderful to be able to have a firepit with campfire every night.

Pub just off the site for breakfast and dinner if wanted. Pub welcomed our teenagers and dog without any problems.

Portaloos basic but all you need.

Warm shower was lovely especially at night with coloured fairy lights shining through the roof of the cubicle.

Really laid-back and welcoming approach from Phil.

Close to working farm. Nice to see new-born calves just over the fence.

    Disliked:

Not a dislike - there really isn’t anything to dislike - but it helps if you’re an experienced camper and know what you’re doing. This is pretty much independent camping with no staff presence (which is fine by me but might not be good for someone just starting out).

From the manager...

Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed 🙂

Phil was very efficient, made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much to ask. In a perfect, quiet area. The shower was lovely and warm, and the the pub was spot on! 15% off food at the pub, and breakfast was beautiful! Our little one enjoyed his first camping trip and loved waking up next to the farm next door 😊
