Dapplewood Caravan Site: Sunny and shady pitches

General

  • Adults-only site in peaceful Dorset countryside
  • Top spot for slow-paced getaways
  • 30-minute drive from Bournemouth and the Dorset coast

Feeling frazzled from the constant to and fro that is modern life? At Dapplewood Caravan Site, an adults-only site in Dorset, less than a mile from the village of Holt and a 10-minute drive from the market town of Wimborne, you can let all those stresses melt away.

Dapplewood is a great base if you want to switch off from the manic real world: slow things down with a stroll on Holt Heath less than five minutes’ drive from the site, explore Moors Valley, 10 minutes away, or centre yourself with a strawberry picking excursion at Holt Wood Farm.

Back on site, you’re in a top spot to unwind. The site keeps distractions to a minimum, so you can be sure of some peace and quiet – take Rex for a walk off-lead in the two acres of ash and oak woodland or relax at the picnic area under the trees, gazing out over the fields next to the site.

Barbecues are encouraged at Dapplewood, so feel free to pile one high with all your faves and chow down. You can grab supplies from one of the shops in Wimborne or, if you’d prefer to have someone else do the cooking, venture across the fields to the local gastropub or nab a table at one of the many restaurants with 10 minutes of the site.

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

Bookings must not be for more than 28 consecutive nights.

This site has no on-site toilet and shower facilities.

Quiet site in beautiful surroundings. We were welcomed onto the site by the owner Bridget who was very helpful and friendly. The site itself is basic, which is what we were looking for. If you're after all the facilities then this isn't for you. However if you want a peaceful, relaxing and beautiful site then look no further. The woods were stunning and it was an easy walk across the fields to the local pub. We will definitely be back.

Those pesky robins! I can honestly say I cannot see a single dropping on the ground in the site. Maybe they had cold feet and you had a warm roof!
