What customers say

A grand, spick and span spot, beloved by families and doggos, with ample pitches and decent facilities. Staff are sound, always chuffed to help, and the clubhouse and carvery got a good clap. Most had a grand time and'd be back, though a few moans about shower heat, a bit of road noise, and iffy Wi-Fi.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked It was a lovely well space pitch. We didn't eat there but the food looked lovely and from what we heard was lovely. It was very clean and tidy. Lovely walk along the river. The staff were very helpful.

Disliked The amount of men's toilets and showers. The shop could be better stocked.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Club House/Bar & Evening Entertainment were excellent and we’d highly recommended the Sunday roast, absolutely delicious.
Showers/toilets were clean and modern although when busy, showers are slower!!
Great dog walking facilities. The site it kept well and the pitches are plenty big enough.

Disliked Litter left on and around the pitch area by previous travellers, leave it how you’d expect to find it, clean & tidy, free from litter!! And I don’t mean just packets/cans, we had wool, cut pipe pieces, broken plastic and left children’s toys?!

Non-electric grass pitch (large)

Liked Very clean facilities, modern toilet blocks and showers, clubhouse and bar etc very good. Food was good no complaints at all. Definitely recommend this site

Disliked Fishing was not great, lots of kids on bikes riding round the lakes and unsupervised youngsters but each to their own I guess. They just don't seem to enforce their own rules

Fully-serviced grass pitch (jumbo)

Liked The thing we liked most was that it was so quiet most of the time, apart from bank holiday weekend but even then wasn't loud.

Disliked Lack of entertainment, WiFi on site doesn't work and you pay through the nose for it as uts not free unless in the bar, one of the days there was a man with a shot gun and trying to get a bird and missed lots of times. This put us off and we didn't really want to stay, many others left that day because of this. Not much for kids to do, yes there is a park but that's it. The receptionist didn't know much, questions were asked and sometimes I got looked at like I had 3 heads.

Local attractions

If you'd prefer something more active than fishing, it's a 15-minute drive to Exmoor National Park for miles of scenic walks, mountain bike trails and lots more outdoorsy antics. Canoeing at Wimbleball Lake and beginners' climbing at Valley of Rocks are among the popular picks, as are pony treks and horse riding days through countryside and along the coast. Speaking of the coast, there's much to enjoy here too: head west for the surf beaches around Croyde and Appledore, or north to Ilfracombe for more beach, the aquarium and boat trips to the island of Lundy. It'll take you 40 minutes or so to hit either stretch of coast. Kid-friendly days out nearby include heritage rides on the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway (half an hour's drive), animal encounters at Exmoor Zoo (20 minutes) and Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park (half an hour) and easy pedals along the traffic-free Tarka Trail from Barnstaple (15 minutes).
