What customers say

This spick-and-span campsite has a brilliant spot, straight onto Dartmoor and the Granite Way, perfect for walkers and cyclists. Guests rave about the sound hosts, spotless facilities, and handy extras like the on-site café/bar. A bit of A30 road noise is noted, but most found it fine. Highly recommended for its peaceful vibe and great location.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Well situated, lovely surroundings, and spotless shower facilities. Very handy that water and rubbish bins conveniently placed. Close to the moor and surprisingly quite, as close to main road.

Disliked Unable to reach the toilets on my disabled buggy as loose stone gravel, the wheels kept getting stuck. This is a common problem with gravel when travelling in a wheelchair of disabled buggy.

Electric grass pitch

Liked A beautiful & well kept site with excellent WiFi coverage & spotlessly clean toilets/showers.
Direct access to The Granite Way cycle path which is what we went for.
Very friendly & welcoming hosts who advised us about rhe area on arrival.
The Pump & Pedal cafe/bar/cycle shop adjoins the site open from 10am to 5pm.

Disliked 24/7 road noise from the nearby A30 which is something we got used to after a few hours.
Not many options for eating out in the evenings without some form of transport. (Its always nice to walk to a nearby pub/restaurant)

Local attractions

Nearby Lydford Gorge, the valley carved into hard Dartmoor rock, is the deepest gorge in England's south west and a popular walking pick throughout the year for its 100-foot high White Lady waterfall and the Devils Cauldron whirlpools. Several walks are around here; pick up a National Trust leaflet at the site for details on routes. Heaps more outdoorsy pursuits are easily found in the Sourton Down Caravan and Camping Park surrounds, like the hiking trails and horse riding of Dartmoor, golfing and fishing in the nearby countryside, and surfing and sunbathing north of the site at Bude and Widemouth Bay. The old tannery town and Francis Drake's birthplace of Tavistock within a short drive is an award-winning option for shopping, at its Pannier Market on Fridays, regular events like antique and craft fairs, and the farmers' market fortnightly in the Square, voted the best in the southwest. More history is all around at places like Plymouth, where you can take the crew on a boat trip to see the navy ships in dock; Princetown, with its famed prison and museum; the old river port Morwellham Quay, and historic houses like 700 year old Buckland Abbey near Yelverton and the early twentieth century country house Castle Drogo, near Drewsteignton.
