What customers say
A grand spot for a bit of "nearly wild" camping amidst lovely woodland. Folks rave about the peace, private pitches, and the sound staff. Toilets are spotless. Some miss showers & hauling gear's a workout, but it's a true woodland adventure for those who fancy it.

5 men, a dog and a really good time
Large clearings non-electric forest floor tent pitch (woodland)
Liked The location (the local scenery is like something from a postcard and one of the local pubs does a thing called a Saxon pie which is a taste sensation)
How clean the toilet block was which must take alot of work given that the site is in the woods
The size of the pitch (we had 3, 3 man tents and a central admin area covered by a tarp on our pitch with room to spare)
The freedom you're given to enjoy yourself (clearly you can't be disruptive or disrespectful to anyone but as long as you're not harming anyone or damaging the wildlife the staff will let you get on with it without breathing down your neck)

Liked First time stay. Exactly what it says on the tin. Warm and friendly welcome, very helpful staff with guidance to walks, parks, shops, pubs etc. Lovely woodland camping. Fire pits on each pitch is a brilliant touch. It is everything you want for “almost” wild camping. Fire, tent, scenery and wildlife. Will definitely be returning.

Liked Facilities were clean, loved the setting and the thought of lending out wheelbarrows to move belongings to the site.
We heard so many owls at night and while sitting round a crackling campfire with friends, it was the loveliest experience ever. We've already rebooked for another time and can't wait to come back

Disliked Pas de douche. Tondeuse du golf le matin au réveil. Code à taper pour entrer aux wc. Beaucoup d'humidité et de boue, il avait plu la veille de notre venue.

Large clearings non-electric forest floor tent pitch (woodland)
Liked Stunning setting, plenty of privacy between pitches, we stayed deep in the wood. Very friendly welcome. Incredibly clean toilets and clear instructions about how to use the site and stay safe.
Disliked It would be great if there were some showers, or cubicles with a sink where you could take a wash.

Small clearings non-electric forest floor tent pitch (woodland)
Liked This is hands down the best (nearly) wild campsite we’ve ever visited. Camping under a beautiful stretch of immaculate woodland, the site feels untouched despite how many visitors must come here — teeming with native wildlife (birdsong from dawn till dusk, fungi and lichen on every tree, we even glimpsed a couple bats). You obviously take care of and respect the land here. The staff were professional but warm. The mandatory fire safety talk was refreshingly clear and appropriate — no patronising lectures, just useful information delivered with respect for our intelligence. Our inductor answered all my questions and gave us a brief history of the land after I enquired. Facilities are minimal, as expected for a wild site, but they were well maintained and the toilets were the antithesis of your cliched, dirty campsite bogs. We are leaving feeling a bit more appreciative and connected with nature and very well looked after. If you’re after a peaceful, authentic, and responsible wild camping experience, this is the place. We’ll definitely be returning — and recommending it to others looking for something special. I wish more campsites/landowners took a similar approach to land ownership. It shows you can earn a living off of a natural habitat whilst preserving its biodiversity and teaching the public how to coexist responsibly in nature.
