  • Simple and scenic pop-up site on a Yorkshire Dales working farm
  • A 10-minute drive to Bolton Abbey or Stump Cross Caverns
  • Direct access to the Dales Way; two village pubs five mins' drive away
Taking a walk on the Dales Way? You’ll probably want to stop off here – Pasture Pitches is in a supremely handy spot just off the long-distance path a couple of miles south of Appletreewick, with direct access from the path to the site. And the rather tougher 90-mile Dales High Way is only about a mile away too, making this a suitable spot for the more hardcore hikers as well. Even if you’re not planning to tackle the full 80-mile trail, this spot is well located for walking in the Yorkshire Dales – you could step out onto the Dales Way for a shorter riverside walk or check out lots of other lovely local trails including the Valley of Desolation waterfall walk or the routes around Embsay Crag (also a popular bouldering spot, by the way). Giving your boots a rest is no problem, either, as there are plenty of other attractions nearby including the stunning Stump Cross Caverns, the atmospheric ruins of Bolton Abbey and the heritage train rides of Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. Skipton (15 minutes’ drive) is a handy place to find shops and places to eat, but there are also two pubs five minutes’ drive away in Appletreewick. This is a small and simple pop-up site on a working farm, so facilities stretch to just portable toilets and showers, but you’re welcome to bring a barbecue.

100% would recommend this site to a friend

100% would stay here again

What customers say

A lovely, tranquil spot by the River Wharfe. Praised for friendly owners, clean facilities, and relaxed vibe. Ideal for walkers, despite patchy phone signal and occasional need for more loos when busy. A hidden gem many want to revisit.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Amazing peaceful site. Next to the river, ideal for a wild swim or kayak. Walked into Appletreewick along the river. Beautiful walk.

Disliked Toilets are very basic and not very private - gaps in the wood for people to see in! . 2 toilets for the whole site and only 1 shower. No Elsan point either which is needed with limited facilities.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review due to the very dry weather the wood has shrunk on the toilets. We have coverd half and are waiting on more wood to be delivered for round the back. For next year there certainly will be more toilets available.

Lovely pitching place. Will be returning!

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked What’s not to like, the scenery, location, owner, peace and tranquility were all absolutely amazing, I can not recommend this site enough, we have just had the most perfect weekend at Pasture pitches and will definitely be returning many times. The owner was the most friendly and helpful that we have ever come across, the location is stunning with the beautiful river a stones throw from your pitch. Facilities were immaculate and cleaned very regularly.

Disliked Nothing

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked The views, the river, close proximity to Bolton Abbey and Appletreewick. If you like wild camping this site is for you. Owner was lovely and helpful.

Disliked Not really a dislike, but could do with another toilet and shower and dish washing sink. A room with just a sink / mirror as no sink in the shower cubicle for.cleaning teeth etc.
And to make the toilets a little more private.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you very much for your review. Yes the toilets are very busy at times we never expected how busy we would be in our first year opening let alone the first month. We have been over whelmed some more toilets and wash facilities are definitely on the agenda

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked The site is easily accessible, and the location is amazing! We went to watch the meteor shower and was not disappointed at all. The river is just outside the campsite and was great for fossil hunting. We went for a hike and went up through a forest and saw Venus and Jupiter low down in the sky on the horizon. Plenty of bats in the forest too. Also was greeted by 4 red kites putting on a show during the day.

The facilities are brilliant, as close to wild camping without wild camping as I’ve experienced. Situated in a valley with stunning views!

The hosts are very nice and friendly also, had a nice chat with them both. As a recently new site they have really done well and I can only see the site improving more and more.

Disliked Didn’t dislike anything!

Liked Beautiful location. owner was very welcoming. You do feel a little exposed when using the bathroom facilities.

From the manager: Thank you for your review and kind words. Other campers had mentioned this about the toilets after their stay and we rectified this issue whilst the campsite was closed yesterday. :) Thanks again for staying with us.
