  • Simple and scenic pop-up site on a Yorkshire Dales working farm
  • A 10-minute drive to Bolton Abbey or Stump Cross Caverns
  • Direct access to the Dales Way; two village pubs five mins' drive away
Taking a walk on the Dales Way? You’ll probably want to stop off here – Pasture Pitches is in a supremely handy spot just off the long-distance path a couple of miles south of Appletreewick, with direct access from the path to the site. And the rather tougher 90-mile Dales High Way is only about a mile away too, making this a suitable spot for the more hardcore hikers as well. Even if you’re not planning to tackle the full 80-mile trail, this spot is well located for walking in the Yorkshire Dales – you could step out onto the Dales Way for a shorter riverside walk or check out lots of other lovely local trails including the Valley of Desolation waterfall walk or the routes around Embsay Crag (also a popular bouldering spot, by the way). Giving your boots a rest is no problem, either, as there are plenty of other attractions nearby including the stunning Stump Cross Caverns, the atmospheric ruins of Bolton Abbey and the heritage train rides of Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. Skipton (15 minutes’ drive) is a handy place to find shops and places to eat, but there are also two pubs five minutes’ drive away in Appletreewick. This is a small and simple pop-up site on a working farm, so facilities stretch to just portable toilets and showers, but you’re welcome to bring a barbecue.

What customers say

A ripper, chill campsite by the River Wharfe, with cracking views and Dales Way access. Poms rave about the friendly owners, clean amenities, and laid-back vibe. Spotty phone signal and a few more loos when busy are the only downsides. A true hidden gem for nature lovers and hikers, most want to come back!

Liked Lovely spacious campsite with beautiful views and direct access to the Dalesway footpath and river banks.
The owners are lovely and helpful and seem to really care about not overcrowding the site. Toilets very clean.

Disliked Although not essential, we had absolutely no signal on phones. It just meant driving to Bolton Abbey to try speak to family on the phone.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked Lovely and peaceful campsite. You can see and hear lots of wildlife from here. Sit back and relax, or go for a walk along the footpath that is easy accessible from the campsite. Along the footpath you can also go for a paddle in the river. Perfect place for kids to explore and a it's run by a friendly family.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked What a lovely place to camp.
I booked for 2 nights. Friday was their 1st night of starting their journey hosting a campsite. Lovely couple with a young family along with grandma running the show.
I think they'll do well.
They made the effort in making sure everyone was ok and comfortable.
There are 2 fields, I parked up in the 2nd one looking over the river on the Dales Way pathway. Stunning views, listening to the water, birds, sheep and general farming sounds.
I enjoyed a walk along the Dales Way, checking out the stepping stones next to the huts leading to Appletreewick. Then rejoined the walkway to Burnsall along Skuff Road to Thorpe a beautiful little village.
I took a hike on the Barden Moor and fell up along Thorpe Fell, Burnsall Fell back to Howgill. The hike took 6hrs and the views where amazing.
I would definitely recommend this site to camp. I will be revisiting. Thank you Steven and Lottie for your beautiful surroundings.

Disliked I think they may need another set of Toilets and a shower as once the site is full the 2 toilets and 1 shower won't be enough.
Other than that nothing.

Liked I loved the peace and space this campsite has to offer. Run by a young couple who really want to make it work, both lovely and down to earth. Felt like a real hidden gem on opening weekend!
