  • Scenic, well-equipped park in the Yorkshire Dales National Park
  • Spa, heated pool, gym, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi on site
  • Coffee lounge and restaurant serving homemade food
You'll want a long, long stay at Long Ashes Park… This spectacular and well-equipped site is in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where there are weeks' worth of hiking and cycling (including trails directly from the pitch). It also comes with an excellent range of leisure and foodie facilities to keep guests entertained and fuelled for exploring. Set in green countryside a couple of miles away from the North Yorkshire village of Grassington, the site is nicely placed for guests to be as active as they like. Scramble up one – or all – of the Three Peaks, tackle the Dales Way alongside the river Wharf or stride along to local villages like Thorpe and Hebden. If you're a keen cyclist, you could also take to two wheels along the 130-mile Yorkshire Dales Cycleway. Those who prefer to spend the holiday in a more leisurely manner can buy a spa day, facial or body therapy sessions at the Long Ashes Spa or linger for hours in the leisure club's heated pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi (there's an extra charge for this). Handily, there's also a gym at the leisure club. The on-site Gamekeeper's Inn serves homemade lunch or dinner dishes and also hosts speciality nights such as fish Friday and Sunday lunch. If you'd prefer a light bite, the coffee lounge serves sandwiches, baked potatoes and other snacks alongside tea, coffee, soft drinks and wine. The facilities at Long Ashes Park include family bathrooms, each with a large shower, a toilet and a wash basin.

Brilliant, spotless loos! Car-free fields mean safe play for kids. Spacious, quiet grounds & fab views. Pub, cafe & pool a big hit. Some found it busy with pricey extras, but most loved the beauty & friendly staff.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked I thought the place was fantastic, the greeting by staff could not have been more friendly, there was loads of space, could easily find spots not too crowded with other tents. The washing up facilities and toilet/shower block were very good quality, with plenty of hot water on demand. I am a fan of the no cars, much safer for the children who can run around without fear.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Very clean and tidy area and facilities. Friendly staff. The Cafe has a variety of drinks for a fair price. The pool was fantastic for an extra charge, the kids loved it. There's wild rabbits and ducks walking around the park.

Disliked The ground was quite difficult to work with in some areas. There were bigger rocks ect. That would bend the tent pegs and make it hard to secure the tent. But that's nature and not really a negative just abit annoying.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Really lovely place, have recommended to all friends and family. We camped here for two nights, tidy well kept field with lots of bunnies running around. Really quiet with lots of space. Toliet and showers were the best we have come across for camping. We had a meal at the pub and breakfast from the cafe, both were really good, value for money and staff were super friendly. We also spent some time in the swimming pool, gym and spa which was a lovely added bonus to our little camping trip.

Disliked Nothing

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Clean tidy field with nice grass, no cars in the field but trolleys to carry tents etc between the car and the field. No designated pitches so we were able to camp by others in our group. Toilets/showers were great, cleaned regularly and each one family accessible. The price of the stay itself was very reasonable for the quality of the actual camping field and facilities.

Disliked One significantly unfriendly worker in the onsite pub who asked if we were new to the area and told us that such a large group couldn't just walk in and expect food - this was a group of 5 adults and some kids ~10 years old looking for a burger/pizza after setting up tents around 5pm.

No signage from the 'main road' through the park. Only 2 trolleys to move belongings. Very busy from Friday to Sunday with some kids screaming until just before 11, and dogs in tents barking through the night. As the field wasn't the biggest, this was all well within earshot. No fires (off of the floor) due to a current ongoing ban by the national parks.

Expensive spar garage closest local shop, and no local indoor activity options.

WiFi is supposedly available but we were all unable to connect throughout our stay.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Showers, toilets and washing up were clean and close by. (5 showers & loos)
Good flat field that didn't feel part of a caravan & holiday park, separated by mature trees
Proximity to cafe swimming pool and bar
Fab views

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked The camp ground was spacious and quiet with stunning views. There was a trolley to bring your luggage and the shower and toilet facilities were the best I've experienced- lockable individual shower rooms with sink, toilet, hot water and powerful cubicle showers.
The site was very pretty and also has a restaurant, swimming pool and spa. There is a Spar shop nearby for supplies.

Disliked On the website it wasn't made clear that the swimming pool is not part of the campsite and is paid separately.although the pool looked fantastic we didn't use it as it was £10 per adult and £5 per child reduced from double this price if you were camping.we felt that for people wanting to explore the area during the day the booking times were quite limited.it would have been nice to perhaps enjoy a day out then have a swim in the evening.

Liked Amazing location. Very friendly welcome. We didn't use the facilities as only stayed two nights but the pool looked great. We were camping and the toilet/shower block was clean and felt modern. Can't fault it.

Liked The receptionist was very friendly

Disliked No view as such, & a few members of staff in the restaurant were very rude & unhelpful . Also didn't like the fact you couldn't have your vehicle next to your tent. Took three times back & forth from the car park to camp site ( trolleys are available when no one else is using them)

Local attractions

Travel two miles to Grassington for a day around its tearooms and shops, then drop into the Grassington National Park Centre for info on what to see and do nearby. Walks leave right from the centre or from the village, including a waterside wander by the River Wharfe to Linton Falls, hikes over Grassington Moors, or a potter around the Grassington Riverside & Woods trail (pick up a leaflet for this at the centre). Grassington is also on the Dales Way, the 80-mile route from Ilkley in West Yorkshire to Bowness-on-Windermere in Cumbria: hardy types can tackle the 13 miles from Grassington to Yockenthwaite, or hike in the other direction on the 16-mile stretch to Ilkley. For cycling, take the Yorkshire Dales Cycleway from Grassington to Ilkley and from there to Bolton Abbey. If you'd much (much) prefer sightseeing and shopping days instead, the market town of Skipton is within 15 minutes' drive and Harrogate is within 50.
