Bowbrook Caravan and Camping: Aerial view from the south

General

  • Quiet, back to basics site between the Cotswolds and the Malvern Hills
  • A 15-minute drive to central Worcester or 35 minutes to Cheltenham
  • Direct access to the A44; one mile from the local railway station

Wandering through Western England is ever so agreeable. With direct access to the speedy A44, adults-only Bowbrook Caravan and Camping makes it a breeze to explore this neck of the woods, whether you've come in search of cosy Cotswolds villages, the rolling Malvern Hills or history-steeped cities like Worcester and Cheltenham.

This spacious, 30-acre site makes a fab base for hols in green surrounds: views here take in nearby Bredon Hill, a handsome farmhouse and fields with plenty of sheep. True to its name, Bowbrook Caravan and Camping is also home to a stream (a wildlife haven full of reeds, willows and the song of visiting birds). For another top riverside spot, head to the village of Wyre Piddle on the banks of the Avon (five minutes' drive).

This straightforward site keeps things simple with its facilities, which stretch to a modern toilet and shower block (with underfloor heating and disabled access to make things welcoming for all), a washing-up point and wifi access. Guests who need to stock up on food have several supermarkets within a 10-minute radius or can head to one of nearby Pershore's Georgian pubs for off-site eats (10 minutes). Dogs are welcome here, but please keep them on leads around the park.

A railway station is on hand a mile down the road, with regular services to Worcester, Oxford and several Cotswold towns.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

Single-sex bookings of 4 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Group bookings of 4 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

At least one of the party members must be aged 25 or over.

A cable measuring at least 10 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Group bookings of 3 or more units (e.g. tent, touring caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

I find the site quiet, some distant road and train noise but not intrusive. Very clean toilets and showers.
Even when we had a deluge of biblical proportions, the site stayed 'dry'. I use this site regularly when working in the area, there is a great Chip shop in Drakes Broughton but it only opens from Wednesday to Saturday, we use one in Pershore, also a good Indian takeaway and the ASDA by the market / retail centre is well stocked.

    Disliked:

The area is a black hole as far as phone and TV signals are concerned. We managed to link to the site WiFi but it kept dropping out. But it didn't detract from our pleasant stay. Bring a book and a pack of cards or a satellite box.

Peaceful scenic campsite. If Carlsberg did Campsites, Bowbrook would probably be the best my wife and I have been to.

    Disliked:

No public transport near by and my advice don’t bother with the local taxis. None answered their phones when my wife and I needed (both of us are disabled) transport back to the Campsite.

Clean and uncomplicated. Themed Pods and tents looked cool

    Disliked:

Wifi not fit for purpose, unsecured so couldn’t log in with Apple devices. Not happy that had to trudge thru long grass to an over grown chemical disposal area because new one out of order, shoes soaked from it, just as leaving site.
Signage, no good putting ‘Bowbrook C+C in 500m sign after the turn to a farm which Google maps sent us to by post code, You need the sign well before that turn, mega embarrassed to go into someone’s home yard to turn around.
Water points not fitted with universal hose point (and not keen on sire users allowing their dogs to pee up the water and hook up points, not sites fault but just saying) Road noise, hopefully give it 10 yrs when planting matures won’t be an issue.

I am 82 years old and like to leave my motorhome on the site and travel around on the local buses. The information on the website said there was a bus route, but the local people told me the nearest one was 2 miles away, and didn't always run so felt really stranded. Never saw anyone connected with the site.
