  • Adults-only rural Oxfordshire site five minutes' drive from Deddington
  • Blenheim Palace 15 minutes' drive; half an hour to Oxford
  • Farm walks and firepits available; dogs and horses welcome
No children, but plenty of wildlife – and a field of horses as your nearest neighbours… It’s all a very relaxed and peaceful experience at adults-only Francis Fields, in rural Oxfordshire about five minutes’ drive from the market town of Deddington. This is a lovely place to relax and unwind, perhaps taking a stroll around the farm to meet the horses and ponies (ask on site if you’d like a proper introduction), finding a spot for a picnic or just chilling out in a deckchair with a drink of your choice and soaking up the uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. It’s not just the human guests that appreciate this location – other visitors often include foxes, badgers, deer, owls and birds of prey, all of which you might catch sight of if you tread carefully or sit quietly enough. As an adults-only site children are not allowed to stay here, but travelling horses and dogs are welcome. The local pub, 10 minutes’ walk away, is also a dog-friendly place – and with tasty food and a good range of beers into the bargain. More shops and pubs are up in Deddington, along with a monthly farmers’ market. Back on site, you’ll be staying on a gently sloping field where pitches are mown into the wild grass. Solar lighting illuminates each pitch, the access track and the toilet and shower areas, and there are firepits to hire for a nice warm alfresco evening.

Farmyard electric gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch (no pets)

Liked Site layout and hard standing for camper vans close to the horse arena
Very friendly and hard working staff, Ellie in particular who appeared to do everything and still found time to exercise her horses which was a pleasure to watch in the arena
Quiet and relaxing
Very new and clean toilets despite few in number

Disliked Few toilets and showers if the site had been full, which it was close to being over the weekend
One shower only had an on tap and it was difficult to control the temp. The other shower had a second tap to add in cold water
One Airbnb user was returning back early hours of the morning despite a no vehicular movement. Airbnb was close to Campervan hard standing

Oak Field non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Beautiful, well spaced, clean, quiet, and tidy! We will absolutely be visiting again sometime in the future.
We were assigned to Oak Field to a trimmed field pitch which was massive and spacious, only a short 2 min walk from the facilities and had a stunning view of the rolling hills and fields.
The owners were super quick and friendly reponding to my queries, and we'd absolutely recommend this site to anyone in a heartbeat - in fact my boss has asked me to share the details with her :)

Disliked I really, really don't want to say anything as we had such a lovely stay, however the one downside was the quantity of loos - they were lovely and clean, absolutely pristine!!! But.. due to a couple of unfortunate campers occupying the stalls, myself and two others were waiting for the best part of 10 minutes before someone vacated.
It's not a quick fix and I appreciate that the site is a pop-up campsite, but if there is any room for improvement, I would only suggest a couple of additional toilets at some point down the line.
Otherwise, genuinely an idyllic campsite and highly recommend!!

Fenced electric grass and gravel tent or motorhome pitch

Liked We had a fenced pitch which was able to accommodate my mum and her camping car also. This is site is absolutely perfect. Showers are so great, toilets are immaculate and the staff are so nice and helpful. We saw deer and red kites and the walks for dogs are just heaven.

Disliked Nothing to fault here at all it’s a great site

Liked The views and the pitch was good with a nice table and chairs. There were too few toilets for the number of people and the security light was annoying

Hawthorn Field non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (no pets)

Liked Widely spaced pitches, so no overcrowding. Clean toilets and showers. Friendly staff. As a solo cyclist camper the picnic table was a real boon to lean the bike against whilst unpacking/packing.
Info hut had a communal fridge/freezer and kettle plus a few spare mains sockets for charging stuff.

Disliked Nothing.

Local attractions

Staying at Francis Fields, you’ll be just on the edge of the Cotswolds National Landscape, putting you within easy reach of lots of gorgeous walking and cycling routes (and a good number of country pubs to stop at…) Some favourite options nearby include walks around the Rollright Stones, or a grander tour of Broughton Castle (both 20 minutes’ drive). Even grander are the lavish stately home and landscaped gardens (designed by Capability Brown, no less) at Blenheim Palace (15 minutes). If your current togs aren’t up to scratch for such things, hit the outlet stores at Bicester Village (20 minutes). The Cotswolds Distillery (25 minutes) is another good place to shop, with a café and distillery tours on offer too. Other days out nearby might take you into Oxford (half an hour) to tour the colleges and museums or try your hand at the art of punting, or to the high-speed action at the Silverstone circuit (35 minutes).
