Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked The premium pitch and the gates direct onto the woods the block and kitchen well appointed

Disliked Glad we didn’t stay on the standard gravel pitch which looked and felt like a car park and was next to the grey water disposal and the elson point

Foxglove Field electric grass tent pitch

Liked It's the first time we've been to Dean Wood and it won't be the last,
The toilets and showers were absolutely spotless,
The views were incredible,
Pitches were large and well kept,
Very safe site with electric gates on entry
Direct access to forest paths
Pub within walking but very steep walk
Excellent bin and recycling area
We had an absolutely amazing stay camping at its best
The Miners Arms pub is well worth the walk friendly and incredible food

Disliked The camper and caravan pitches are a bit clinical on hardstanding
A bit expensive but worth the extra pounds

Local attractions

Sights in the Forest of Dean include Clearwell Caves (15 minutes’ drive), an underground system of nine natural caverns that were mined for iron ore from Roman times until well into the 19th century; and Puzzlewood (15 minutes), an area of ancient woodland laced with paths. Both sites have been used as settings for various episodes of ‘Doctor Who’. A former prison built in the 18th century, Littledean Jail (15 minutes) now houses an eclectic collection ranging from punk-rock memorabilia, to witchcraft-related artefacts. There are also location-appropriate displays such as village stocks, body cages and hangman’s nooses, plus personal items of notorious criminals like the Kray Twins. Tintern Abbey (half an hour), sitting in ruins on the Welsh bank of the River Wye, was founded in the 1100s and became a victim of Henry VIII’s dissolution of the monasteries policy just four centuries later. In addition to falconry displays, the site runs informative guided tours shedding light on the life of the monks.
