At family-friendly site The Thames Head Inn, four miles from Cirencester market town in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, you definitely won't want to miss the chance. Thames Head is well-placed for exploring the spectacular Cotswolds on foot or by bike – the start of the Thames Path, which follows the world-famous river for 184 miles from source to sea, is half a mile from the site, and there are loads of cycles tours and walking routes starting in Cirencester and Tetbury, both within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. If that's not your scene, kick back on the dog-friendly site in the shade of the trees, soaking in the scenic and peaceful Cotswolds countryside, or take a relaxed stroll through the fields with Rex. Worked up an appetite? The site is in the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant, where food is served well into the evening and the drinks keep flowing until closing (remember to book a table, as mealtimes can get very busy). If you fancy fending for yourself, pick up supplies in Cirencester or Kemble – a 20-minute walk away – and fire up the barbecue. For a change of scenery – and menus – there are plenty of restaurants within 10 minutes of Thames Head.

This small, well-kept site gets a thumbs-up for its level pitches, tidiness, and friendly staff. Lovely pub food and atmosphere are big hits. The main sticking point is the one shared toilet/shower room, found to be a bit tight, particularly when it's busy. A bit of road noise too. Still, most reckon they'd come back.

Liked The pub is lovely, the atmosphere was good. Food was amazing, portions were huge. Beware!! Campsite was very intimate, neat and tidy.

Disliked The toilet / shower is poor. Only one small room. Found it appalling that a guest would smoke in the shower room and toilet when it is clearly a shared facility.

Liked Nice little campsite, very friendly staff at the pub, good for a one night stopover. Central to a few places to see. Not really anywhere to walk the dogs though, as right on main road.
If I have a negative it’s the lack of conveniences, only one loo & shower & think they have a problem with the drains.
