At family-friendly site The Thames Head Inn, four miles from Cirencester market town in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, you definitely won't want to miss the chance. Thames Head is well-placed for exploring the spectacular Cotswolds on foot or by bike – the start of the Thames Path, which follows the world-famous river for 184 miles from source to sea, is half a mile from the site, and there are loads of cycles tours and walking routes starting in Cirencester and Tetbury, both within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. If that's not your scene, kick back on the dog-friendly site in the shade of the trees, soaking in the scenic and peaceful Cotswolds countryside, or take a relaxed stroll through the fields with Rex. Worked up an appetite? The site is in the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant, where food is served well into the evening and the drinks keep flowing until closing (remember to book a table, as mealtimes can get very busy). If you fancy fending for yourself, pick up supplies in Cirencester or Kemble – a 20-minute walk away – and fire up the barbecue. For a change of scenery – and menus – there are plenty of restaurants within 10 minutes of Thames Head.

Liked Good size pitches with ehu and hardstanding
One tap for drinking water quite adequate for 10-ish pitches
Loo/shower spotless and warm with water as hot as you like !
Staff in pub really friendly and welcoming as well as well organized
Food good with generous portions
Walk to the source of the Thames only 20 minutes

Disliked One loo in same room as shower meant it was overly busy at peak times
No washing up facilities

Liked Really clean and friendly site. Easy access and great location. The pub is charming with good food and beer.

Disliked Just one toilet and shower combined is ok with just 4 of the pitches taken. How it works with all 11 in use ?

Staff accommodated our request to pitch next to our friends.
Spacious and level pitches
Only stayed one night so didn’t use facilities so couldn’t comment about those

Liked Good, flat hard standing fo the campervan and all 12 pitches have electric hook up.

Disliked There is only one toilet and shower - combined in the same room.
This is insufficient. It is OK to use the pub’s toilets when the pub is open, but first thing in the morning, there is a long wait for the toilet if someone is showering.

Liked Fab small site, all hard standing with small and large pitches. Well kept grounds. Pub does amazing food at good prices excellent value. Staff are all lovely and helpful we had no issues at all. Not far from Cirencester town which has lots of shops , supermarkets close about 10 min drive if that..choice I seen was Waitrose, Tesco, Aldi and Lidi and home bargains. You are allowed small fire pits and bbq as long as they aren’t on the grass. We will defo be back.

Disliked Can’t say we disliked anything.. it does only have one shower and toilet combined and no washing up facilities however we use our own anyway. Mayb outside washing up facilities maybe good going forward for when you want to wash bigger items like bbq.. but this is NOT a complaint as we don’t have any.

There are plenty of stately homes near The Thames Head Inn if you want to get a feel for the history of the area, with Newark Park, Sudeley Castle, Dyrham Park, Bowood House and Berkeley Castle all within 45 minutes’ drive of the site.
