  • Peaceful and sheltered adults-only site on a working farm
  • A 15-minute drive from Buxton; Bakewell 20 minutes
  • A few minutes' walk from a traditional country pub and the river Dove
Small in size but big on views – that’s the fine mix on offer at Crowdecote Campsite, an adults-only farm site in the Peak District National Park near the little village of Crowdecote. Green fields, trees and hills are all around at this quiet Derbyshire site, and local beauty spots like the river Dove, Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill are all within comfortable walking distance. Facilities on site are low-key so as not to detract from these peaceful surrounds, but essentials like a toilet, shower, running water and chemical disposal are all provided (the shower has hot water but please note there's no hot water elsewhere). This rural spot is also home to a herd of friendly cattle and their pygmy goat pals Kenny and Dave, all of whom can be seen in fields by the site. Dogs are welcome here, but please keep them on a lead and under control – this is a working farm, after all. Firepits are also welcome, and firewood is available to purchase on site. You'll need to keep all fires/barbecues in a steel container that's raised off the ground (please don't light fires on the ground or try to construct a firepit out of stones). Looking for something to make that view even nicer? A friendly country pub is a short walk away and a handy local bus service to Buxton and Ashbourne stops just opposite the pub, so you won't necessarily need a car for local hill walks (and you can also head straight out to Dragon's Back or Chrome Hill on a footpath from the site). The next village over is Longor (just over a mile away), where there's a café, bar and well-liked local chip shop.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Beautiful scenery. Able to borrow a fire pit and plenty of wood available to buy. Lovely hot showers, very clean. And a stretch no noise after 9.30pm for a peaceful nights sleep. Absolute gem of a campsite.

Disliked: Nothing. Great campsite.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Beautiful location with views of the countryside from our tent. The owner Steve provided helpful information before our check-in and the facilities were clean and as advertised. We had a lovely relaxing time.

The campsite is also within a couple of minutes walk to a pub where we had some lovely food and also has an amazing view from the beer garden.
Would definitely recommend staying in this location.
