What customers say
This rural campsite has a popular lake for swimming and paddleboarding. Guests loved the friendly staff, clean amenities, and roomy pitches. The on-site cafe and nearby pub are also big hits. Some noted inconsistent shower temp/pressure and occasional noise. Lake access is a huge plus, especially for families.

Beautiful site
Primitive grass campsite
Liked We only booked for one night as our first tentative family camping trip, it was absolutely perfect..great facilities, tidy, beautiful lake and didn't feel crowded even though it was peak season. Our only regret was only booking one night.

Really loved it, highly recommend.
Primitive grass campsite
Liked The lake, the clean facilities, the size (didn’t feel too busy), easy check-in, friendliness of staff.
Disliked The lack of available food options at the park and surrounding areas. Would have been 10 stars for more option.

A fantastic, family friendly place to stay.
Primitive grass campsite
Liked The facilities have been hugely improved including the number of toilets and showers. Access to the lake has also improved - it is a wonderful facility.
Although we visited during a busy August weekend, the restricted numbers and introduction of wrist bands meant it didn't feel too crowded or busy. We had an excellent stay and can't wait to go again!

VERY overcrowded. VERY expensive for what you get.
Bell tent (basic)
Liked The general area but don't go here if you like waking up to see open spaces and savour peace and quiet.
The children loved the water but hated the crowds.
Disliked Too many tents, too close together, not enough individual space, pitches next to dusty road, lack of shade. The cafe very small, noisy with piped music, limited menu, lack of fresh fruit and salad. This is not a rural retreat.
Lake is small

Great location
Friendly staff
Good size pitches
Play area
Disliked Showers - almost impossible to wash all shampoo and conditioner out of hair due to pressure and direction the water comes out in.

Lovely site with a few simple additions needed.
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Fab location for walks, local pub and the lake is lovely with plenty of shady spots and easy access into the lake for a swim/SUP.
Nice play park.
Disliked -Some shelving and a mirror or two in the wash area would be really helpful.
-The showers need some maintenance as the water sprays every which way and an achieving a proper wash, esp of children is really tricky. Had to stand on very tiptoes and try to concentrate water to manage any kind of hair wash. A simple fix. Everything hung up got soaked!!
-A freezer to refreeze cooler packs is needed. Most pitches are in 100% sun and in warm weather cool boxes don’t stand a chance without replacements freezer blocks.
- a government alerted for wildfires was activated during our stay. Of concern was that the warden did nothing, even after we raised concerns she continued to sell firewood and made no attempt to have fires extinguished or tell guests not to. Website was updated the next day with the alert but some guests still lit fires/bbqs anyway and this wasn’t dealt with at all.
-we booked as a group of 4, yet were squashed onto 3 pitches together and told we had to put cars in the car park to create even more space. The marked pitch areas are well sized but this isn’t adhered to. We had to arrange out tents carefully to fit

Overall a very lovely & pleasant stay.
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Beautiful location & lovely lake.
It was great to be able to dip & use the SUP in the lake onsite without having to get in the car. Lovely pub only a 5 minute walk away.
Disliked The campsite was very busy & felt a little overcrowded.
Toilet seats were wonky in most cubicles & there were holes in some of the shower doors. Just a little bit more attention to detail needed.

And, Relax …
Primitive grass campsite
Liked We had a perfect spot for our van. The campsite has a great toilet and shower block, which has been built in keeping with its location.
The campsite is family friendly but quiet too. The lake is incredible. There are access spots all round the lake, with shade too.
It’s the most perfect place to come to for a total relaxation.
