Family friendly peaceful site. Idyllic location.
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Excellent family site. Pretty and well maintained with very spacious pitches. The new shower block was kept very clean. Easy to use water and waste point. The wardens were friendly and attentive. The lake is stunning and was very welcome in the recent hot weather.
Disliked Not a dislike but the flow of water in the showers was not strong and the spray was a little erratic leading to having to bob and weave to rinse off shampoo.

Not sure I’d recommend it as it currently is.
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Area was nice, picturesque and well laid out. On site buildings were modern and clean in appearance. Plenty of space and kayak hire on site (if complex and expensive) was good. Local pub was excellent. Great food. I’d describe this as a young family with young children friendly site.
Noise curfew seemed to be adhered to.
Disliked Showers were terrible. They are solar powered and despite being there for the hottest June days on record, they were stone cold throughout the day. Water pressure was variable and the fixed shower heads sprayed everywhere, including on the clothes pegs on the back of the doors.
Several of the toilets had broken door locks too. The cafe on site seemed to have random opening hours different to those advertised and is completely closed on certain days. The lake is advertised as “crystal clear”. It wasn’t. Loads of floating algae and there was major construction work ongoing. Think JCBs, chainsaws and pile driving pontoon pillars into the lake bed creating noise throughout the day. It was also exceptionally busy with day visitors so don’t expect peaceful tranquility, more like human soup! Despite signs saying that dogs are to be kept on leads at all times, there were two that were running loose all of the time, even after being warned by the site warden.

Will definitely be back here again
Primitive grass campsite
Liked A very spacious site with a lovely position in the Dorset countryside. Great service from the camp warden. The facilities are clean. The pub is only 5 minutes away. And of course, THE LAKE. It was so lovely to swim in on one of the hottest days of the year.

Primitive grass campsite
Liked Absolutely loved this place ❤️ so friendly and welcoming tye lake was a saver this week as the temperature was so high . Didn't want to leave facilities close by and clean and tidy. Couldn't of asked for a better stay. Location was perfect 👌 Defo coming back.
Disliked Only down fall I would say the prices of the cafe. We're very high but can't moan just thinking of peoplw with younger children would cost a bit but overall absolutely fantastic

Wonderful!
Primitive grass campsite
Liked We loved staying at this campsite and didn’t want to leave! Wonderful, friendly welcome on arrival. Well kept with a new eco shower and toilet block. Fantastic walks nearby for our dog, and a beautiful lake to swim in (especially lovely as it was so hot during our stay!). Didn’t go in the cafe but it looked good.
Disliked The solar panels heated the water little too well during our stay (very sunny), no shortage of piping hot water but you can’t turn the temperature down! Am guessing cool showers on cloudy days.

An absolute gem of a site.…
Primitive grass campsite
Liked An absolute gem of a site. Amazing location and quality facilities.
The owner has put a lot of thought (and money) into the development of this site and the result is stunning. A quiet lakeside site with a beautiful cafe and solar powered eco shower and toilet block. Very friendly, helpful staff.
Disliked A very minor point - all the showers were cold one morning, despite water from other taps being hot. It was a very hot day so it didn’t matter.

Overall an amazing camp site and great little find!
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Beautiful camp site, surrounded by hills and the lake is stunning. It’s such a nice touch to be able to access the lake from the campsite so great for paddle boarding/kayaking! The cafe is also so beautiful, great food and little trinkets to buy!
Disliked I loved the campsite as a whole so this a very petty and not even something that would deter me from going again but if I had to make one observation it would be that the ground is quite hard and it was difficult to get some tent pegs in.
