Liked Thank you so much for an idyllic camping holiday! We had such a lovely welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our time together with our 4, 7 and 10 year old.

We loved our spot between the trees. Great facilities and beautiful surroundings. Peaceful evenings for stargazing too.Hope to come back soon.

Liked Pretty surroundings, not too busy, lots of space between pitches, good washing up areas, easy access/entry, lots of things to see in the nearby area

Disliked Toilets/showers quite basic, proximity to motorway meant traffic could be heard throughout the night

From the manager: Thank you very much for your review Kate. We are pleased that you did have a list of likes , but sad that you had so many dislikes.

Most customers really like our showers and toilets and find them to be very modern. We would not be able to put up shelves on the toilet walls as this would stop them from being water tight as they are in one moulded sheet. This would also be a hazard and customers would be hitting their heads. We have to keep them simple for health and safety reasons. The plastic stools are for less able bodied customers to sit on.

Unfortunately, we can't move the road, and as we say on lots of our other reviews, we ask our customers to research where they are going, eg: proximity to roads etc before they book so that we don't get marked down for things that are out of our control.

The Oak View Team. 😊

Liked open space, free use of showers, host in reception very good feeling from her, walking in woods

Disliked not being able to keep car on pitch, but ended up liking that,no shop,no pub.but town not far, black horse pub 0,9 drive away ,no fires, camp fires even wood on bbq

From the manager: Thank you for your review Frank. That is very kind of you to say. 😊

We are not a big site and so we do not have the room for all of our customers to keep their cars on the grass pitches (customers with hardstanding may do if it fits) and it is also for the safety of your vehicle with lots of kids with footballs about. We need to keep what space we do have for the children to play. No one wants to look out of their tent at someone else's car.

Again, we ask our customers to do their research to see what we have on site.

As for fires, ABSOLUTELY NOT. This is our one big rule which is clearly stated on our PitchUp listing. This time of year, with no rain and everything bone dry, it would be total madness. We also have protected trees and young children on the park. Our customers are allowed a barbecue if gas, electric or charcoal and we advise keeping a bottle of water next to charcoal ones to be safe.

Having said all that, we would love to see you again sometime. The Oak View Team. 😊

Liked Small, spacious site. Very peaceful. Woods to walk in and open ground next to it.
Very hot when we went, but we were allocated a lovely spot under trees…a large plot.
Showers, toilets and washing areas cannot be faulted and looked very new.
A few family groups, was school holidays, but still quiet. Everyone very friendly from our fellow campers to the lovely friendly lady in the office, who welcomed
us.
Good to find a site like this that is only 40/45 mins away. So easy for a quick relaxing weekend without the travel.

Liked Lovely site to stay at, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, the toilets and showers are always nice and clean as are the toilets no litter on the site either, so many green areas and woodland to explore on the site and so much to do in the area, Leeds Castle moat park to name just two, I will definitely stay again 😊

Liked Very nice staff
The pitch was big enough, not from the power socket
Very green area

Disliked Since the showers and the toilets are in the same room, it gets too humid/wet most of the time.

From the manager: it was kind of you to leave us a review, thank you.
We have just had new extractor fans fitted in all our showers and toilets but it the sheer volume of people using constantly them when we are busy that is causing this. They don't have a chance to dry before the next one is in there. I do open the main door 40 times a day to try and solve this 😂

We would love to see you again, happy travels. The Oak View Team. 😊

Mostly good, but wardens need to police their own rules.

Liked Nothing fancy. Nice clean showers, toilets and washing up facilities with plenty of piping hot water. Reliable WiFi (if you’re pitched close to reception) and reliable EHU. Very friendly and helpful reception staff and wardens. Decent (not exceptional) pub around 20 mins walk from the site.

Disliked Yet another site and only pays lip service to their own rules - very noisy group of campers talking/shouting loudly and playing music up to 3AM on Friday night with no intervention from the on site wardens. If you publish “quiet time” rules (they do) then they need to be politely policed.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for taking time out of your day to leave s a review Chris. We are glad that you found us acceptable for some of your needs, we've never professed to be "fancy" and we are a touring caravan park, hotels are for "fancy".

Regarding the noise, had you brought this to the Wardens attention, it would have been dealt with. Even park wardens have to sleep sometimes.

We did allow you to come in late after our closing time and went to the trouble of sending you information and a map to your pitch to allow you to do this even though our closing times ate clearly stated on PitchUp.

We wish you happy travels. The Oak View Team.

Liked Shower block was really good, hot and clean heads, which when compared to lost sites where you get listed this was like showering at home.
Washing and tumble drier really good priced and quick - ideal if you have little ones.
Flat ground and overall generally gorgeous. Would totally come back.

Disliked None.

Local attractions

Oak View Holiday Park is in prime position to traverse the best of Kent's countryside, coast, castles and well-known gardens – with Essex and its coast easily accessible too just to the north. Plenty of pedalling and perambulating opportunities are around the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, such as the 153-mile route of the North Downs National Trail through from Farnham to Canterbury, passing the White Cliffs of Dover. This takes in the 119-mile Pilgrims' Way, the supposed route of Thomas Becket from Winchester to Canterbury Cathedral. Elsewhere in Kent, loads is on all year round in the 500 acres of parkland and formal gardens at lovely Leeds Castle (10 minutes’ drive), like free falconry displays, play areas, special events and making one's way intrepidly out of the castle maze. Also see Rochester Castle (20 minutes) on the east bank of the Medway for its 12th-century keep and stacks of historical info: the castle was sacked during the Peasants' Revolt, held for Henry III against the barons, and besieged (also because of barons) by bad King John. And of course, just next door is the Kent Showground, which hosts all sorts of events throughout the year (the most famed being the Kent County Show, which usually runs for three days in July).
