  • Simple camping field near the pretty village of Isfield in East Sussex
  • A 20-minute drive to Ashdown Forest; half an hour to Drusillas Park
  • Bespoke pitch allocation and private campfires on every pitch
Whether you’re after somewhere to run around with the kids, or a secluded adults-only camping break, no problem. You’ll find them both at Yamp Camp Isfield, a relaxed, off-grid spot with spacious camping meadows near Uckfield in rural East Sussex. There’s masses of open space in which to play games and have family fun – and dogs on leads are welcomed too – while an adult-friendly section is tucked into another field for guests wanting a bit of space from children. Spacious pitches are assigned according to group size, so you needn’t worry about having a mad rush to pick the best spot, and each one has its own private firepit for snuggly nights around the fire (firewood is available for a small price). Parking is next to your pitch, saving you the bother of lugging camping gear across the fields. And please note that this is a back-to-basics site with no electricity (although 4G is readily available for most networks if you really need to keep in touch with the outside world). Bring a torch. Three classic pubs are within 45 minutes’ walk of classic village pubs nearby, and if you’d rather stick to self catering, an outstanding butchers and farm shop provides fresh, locally sourced produce at reasonable prices (10 minutes). Being only 1.15 hours’ drive from London, Yamp Camp Isfield makes a handy base for weekend breaks and last-minute escapes from the big smoke.

Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: Simple site, new (if not new then very well maintained) facilities. Composting toilets were kept clean and lit

Disliked: Car caught on concrete bridge, some hardcore needs putting down as someones vehicle may get damaged

Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: Fantastic, Peaceful Location and Freddie was really friendly. Short walk to the pub and a great train station with a steam engine to ride. Facilities were spotless at all times.

Disliked: Premium price for a not very well equipped site. No hot water for washing up. Showers were just about hot enough to shower (JUST). Drinking water was from a surface pipe so in the middle of the afternoon its hotter than the showers.
