  • Well-maintained Norfolk site one mile from the Sandringham Estate
  • Within 10 minutes' drive of Hunstanton and Heacham beaches
  • Bar, adventure playground, dog-walking area and bicycle hire
Have you ever been to the Norfolk coast? Come and stay at Pine Cones Caravan and Camping, a mile from Sandringham Estate and a 10-minute drive from the beaches in Heacham and Hunstanton. At this well-maintained site, the staff aim to go out of their way to make sure that everyone's comfortable. There's something for everyone; kids tend to love the open space – teams can often be seen laughing over a game of football or other games – and spending hours on the play equipment. Meanwhile, all ages can unwind at the all-weather bar and terrace at Bens Bar, which is open at peak times for snacks, draught beer and other delicious drinks; live sports are also shown here. Dogs (up to two per booking) are very welcome and even get access to their own dedicated off-lead walking area and warm dog wash. Other on-site facilities include luxury individual bathrooms (each with a toilet, sink and shower), electric vehicle charging points and gas bottle sales. Takeaway food is served on site during peak times. At other times, simply stroll along to the two dog-friendly village pubs within walking distance. There are plenty of excellent walks and cycling paths from the site, with the Sandringham Visitor Centre only 20 minutes' walk away; hire a bicycle on site to get around quicker. Bus stops are nearby in Dersingham.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (large)

Liked Clean toilets and shower facilities
Good WiFi connectivity
Spacious pitches

Disliked Poor customer service - had an incident with a member of staff that said I was travelling too fast when leaving the site. I have no issue with this being said but the way it was said was aggressive and confrontational. At this time I was taking my young son to the hospital.

If your on the fully serviced pitches there is a lot of traffic noise.

The external code for the barrier is different to the internal barriers however the signs on barriers and code pad said they are the same. The external barrier code is in the leaflet that is given out but it’s not obvious and i know I’m not the only person on the site who had the same issue. This should have been mentioned on arrival.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed our clean toilet and shower facilities, good WiFi connectivity, and spacious pitches.

We're sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your interaction with our site warden. I have spoken to him regarding the incident, and he assures me that he did not speak in an aggressive manner. He did, however, confirm that your speed was considerably above what is appropriate for the site. Given the speed you were travelling, he needed to raise his voice above a normal conversational level to ensure he could get your attention. The safety of all our guests is our highest priority, particularly during the school holidays when there are many children and adults walking around the park.

Thank you also for highlighting the issue with the barrier codes. Following your feedback, the arrival signage has now been updated to clearly show the correct information. The external and internal barrier codes were intentionally separated to improve the security of the park; however, the sign on the entrance barrier was unfortunately not updated at the same time, and this was an oversight on our part. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and apologise for any confusion this caused.

We value all guest feedback as it helps us improve the experience for everyone, and we thank you for taking the time to share your comments.

Pine Views FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Location good with great dog walks right on the doorstep.

Disliked Some road noise. Space between opposite pitches was quite narrow which caused a number of people to have issues parking up and moving.
Not a problem for our visit as site not full but number of toilets quite low for overall site.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We’re pleased to hear you felt Pinecones was a nice site, although we’re sorry that aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations.

Following your review, we checked the drainage system and can confirm that everything is working correctly. During your stay, temperatures reached around 37°C, and in exceptionally hot weather drains can naturally produce stronger odours than usual.

Whilst we appreciate your comments regarding the bathrooms, we would respectfully disagree with the description of them as dated. Our individual shower rooms are modern, clean and well maintained, and they receive many positive comments from guests. They are cleaned regularly throughout the day, and we take great pride in maintaining a high standard.

With regard to the road noise, we do acknowledge that, as our site is located close to the A149, some traffic noise can be heard. This is clearly mentioned before booking, and whilst the vast majority of our guests find it perfectly acceptable, we appreciate that everyone has different levels of sensitivity to noise.

Thank you again for your feedback. We always welcome constructive comments and wish you all the best with your future camping adventures.

Sandy Acres powered grass and sand campsite (small)

Liked Loved the location, everything was an easy drive to get to.
Loved the private shower/toilets with the music and a quiet room for those who don't like music or easily stimulated.
Was lovely and clean and great WiFi.

Disliked Disliked that the bar not opening until later in the morning so couldn't get breakfast, and it closed in the afternoon. Would have been nice to grab a drink or food in the evening time once you've finished about your day.
Also the drinking water was cloudy but perhaps that due to the location and extra chalk?

Local attractions

Beaches, historic houses, museums and festivals, tiny villages, market towns and fab family days out are all easily accessible from Pine Cones Caravan and Camping. Within a couple of miles, the deer safaris, farming activities and walking trails of Snettisham Deer Park and the sights and smells of Norfolk Lavender are both good options for a day out; Snettisham has an RSPB reserve too for those itching to twitch. But as you're probably in west/north Norfolk for the beaches, head to Heacham, Holkham and Hunstanton first, the closest sands to Pine Cones, and then take a trip to Brancaster, 11 miles away; the family-friendly and very scenic sands of Sheringham, Cromer and Mundsley are a little further along the coast. (Also, the final scenes of Shakespeare in Love were filmed at Holkham, and all the beaches in these parts are fairly filmworthy, so bring your camera.) Other excellent options for days out include village hopping and shopping among the scenic sights of Dersingham, Holt, Fakenham, Aylsham and Burnham Market to pick up some local produce, or going along to one of Norfolk's festivals or events: there's usually something going on throughout the year. Pine Cones is also on the edge of the Norfolk Coast National Landscape – bring walking boots, crabbing nets and plenty of room for picnics.
