In need of a Devon des res with smashing views? Lynmouth Holiday Retreat is a quiet site in the hills above Lynton and Lynmouth in the Exmoor National Park. As it's got direct access to the A39, it's a top contender if you're looking for a base to explore the Devon and Somerset coast. Needless to say, there's plenty of stunning scenery around here: keep your eyes peeled for resident wildlife like wild ponies, red deer and birds of prey. The surrounding countryside is also full of trails for rural rambles, including the long-distance South West Coast Path. Dogs are welcome at the site and direct access to footpaths makes it a breeze to keep Fido fit and healthy. Lynmouth Holiday Retreat has plenty of practical benefits too: facilities include a food shop, wifi, a washing-up area and a launderette to keep your gear spick and span. If you find yourself getting peckish, feel free to set up a barbecue, order a takeaway or head down into Lynton (five minutes away) to stock up at the supermarket. You'll likely want to linger here for a stroll around its picture-worthy cottages, fishing boats and genteel Victorian buildings. Alternatively, forage for your own supper by taking the kids crabbing down at Lynmouth harbour (five minutes' drive).

This tidy, well-kept spot has ripper views and a chill vibe. Guests rave about spotless, modern facilities, super helpful staff, and handy on-site eats. Great for hikers, though it's a bit hilly. Lots of folks loved the big pitches and dog-friendly extras. A few mentioned shower queues and wind, but it was a top trip with heaps keen to come back.

The View fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked Stunning site with amazing views and very tranquil. Pitches are all great no matter where you are, lots of space and also nice to have your own dedicated area. Facilities were spot on, extremely clean and looked after. Handy launderette room too. Bbq night was on the Monday whilst we were there, highly recommend going early on or pre ordering as they did run out of a lot of things by 6:30pm. Handy food and drinks van which sells a range of cocktails and food too, opens 8am-11am as they off breakfast rolls and then opens again 4pm-8pm.

It is in the middle of nowhere, that’s fine, it’s a retreat! But it would be nice to have a shuttle bus / car into Lynmouth a couple of times a day as it’s so beautiful and would be a nice option.

Liked Stunning views over Lynton and Lynmouth. The photos really dont do it justice. Its in a wonderful location for lovely walks and farm visits. Feed the goats at caffyns down the road. Take a ride on the funicular and under a hour to some of the best seaside towns/beaches in the whole of the UK. Wonderful polite and friendly staff, good cocktail/burger bar.

Disliked Showers too close to the wall that your body has to touch the wall to shower. No chance of being able to successfully wash my hair.
Chemical taste to the drinking water.

Liked Everything was absolutely perfect ,clean and well maintained friendly helpful staff. Excellent views very relaxed atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. See you again next year if not before thanks for a great experience ❤️

Disliked No dislikes but would of liked the local shop to have more variety and possibly to sell cigarettes for us bad habit people rather than packing our bits up to travel in our big camper van to travel for these things that would be great if we could get them on site.

Liked Everything was great, good sized pitches, spotless toilets and washrooms, good wifi, great views and a brilliant food van serving tasty food and lovely cocktails.
The staff were so friendly and we will definitely be coming back for another getaway soon!

Local attractions

Guests here have plenty of attractions and activities on their doorstep in and around Lynton and Lynmouth (five minutes' drive). For a novel way to travel between the two, try the funicular cliff railway that connects the twin towns. In the surrounding countryside, you can marvel at the geological formations of the Valley of the Rocks (10 minutes) or head out to the forest around Watersmeet (15 minutes) for waterfalls and an elegant Victorian tea room. Many head to this part of the country in search of outdoor pursuits, so sporty types may well be pleased to learn that Lynmouth Holiday Retreat is close to a stables (10 minutes), fishing lake (20 minutes) and golf club (40 minutes). To really get that blood pumping, hike some or all of the 14 miles along the coast to Combe Martin, a hilly stretch of the South West Coast Path that includes this trail's highest point. You may, of course, prefer a day lounging on the beach (and with beaches like these, who can blame you?). Top seaside towns nearby include Minehead, with its rockpools, and Ilfracombe with its castle and aquarium (both half an hour away).
