  • Peaceful site surrounded by woods filled with wildlife
  • A short drive from Shanklin and Sandown Bay
  • Heated outdoor pool on site in summer months
This is such a pretty site – tucked in a quiet glen beside an unruffled duck pond, and embraced by bluebell woods full of red squirrels, badgers and woodpeckers – that you may never want to leave this peaceful little wildlife haven… But when you do manage to drag yourself away from Ninham Country Holidays, it’s just a short ride through gorgeous countryside to the safe, sandy beaches Shanklin and Sandown Bay. The Orchard pitching area has spacious, level landscaped pitches divided by hedging and mature specimen trees. Guests have access to modern bathroom facilities, with renewable technologies such as solar water heating and rainwater harvested flushing toilets. There's also an outdoor heated swimming pool at this park (open late May to early September, and operated on a regulated booking system). TV and games rooms are also on hand for keeping the kids busy in mid and high-season periods. A firm emphasis is placed on being nature-friendly, and all guests are expected to adhere to a strict recycling policy and the countryside code. Please note: well-behaved dogs are accepted for most of the year, but not during the school summer holidays. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times on site.

Great pitches & facilities, friendly staff, and a top spot for exploring. Families love the pool and games room. Minor farm noise/pool temp niggles but mostly brilliant.

Orchard powered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked This was a really lovely campsite. The pool, parks and games room were good.

The pitches were good with the hedge separating areas and providing much needed shade.

Layout encouraged children from different pitches to play together and still be in sight.

Disliked Noise rules weren't followed and loud music was played past 10pm every night.

Orchard powered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked We liked being escorted to the pitch and offered guidance on the position of pitch which helped inform us how to angle our tent. I thought the no visitors rule was inconvenient at first as it was our daughter’s birthday but over the course of our stay, I appreciated how secure the site felt as a result. Particularly as we brought our bikes and the children enjoyed cycling around the site throughout our time there. The pool was amazing as was the variety of play areas available to the children. The facilities were the best we’ve experienced and the staff are ever present and very accommodating and approachable.

Disliked Genuinely can’t think of anything any of us disliked.

Hikers & Cyclists unpowered grass tent site

Liked Everything was immaculate from the camping fields to the showers/wc's had plenty of free hot showers, ample sinks, if you're like me & prefer to wash face & clean teeth in private, there were cubicles to do this.
Disabled shower had shower heads at different heights plus a hand held one. Free hairdryer a bonus as I rarely have cash.
I'm a solo female traveller & felt safe & secure. Professional, friendly staff. Go above & beyond. They even met me at the entrance & drove me to my pitch. I have a 2 man hiking tent & my pitch was huge!
Kids will love the climbing wall (not very high) play areas, games room & pool
I still can't believe the rates for a stay in such a beautiful campsite.
Many bridleways to walk I used 3 of them-18mins to Morrisons for a great breakfast, 22 mins Shanklin, 20 mins to landguard for bus s services

Orchard fully-serviced grass caravan site

Liked Possibly the best camp site I’ve ever stayed on, a strong 9 1/2 out of 10.
Large pitches, thoughtfully laid out over about 8 fields. We had our own electric hook up with water and grey waste. Facilities are spotless and plentiful, my only downside was the shower was warm rather than hot. The beginning of the week when we stayed the weather was cool, wet and windy, and I really could have done with a hot shower, but I would definitely return and have recommended to a colleague who is going to book.

Orchard powered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked This is the best site we’ve stayed on. Pitches are spacious, the facilities were spotlessly clean and modern. The pool was beautiful- overall a very well maintained camp site, we would definitely come back. Loved that it was a quiet weekend and the lovely proprietors spaced everyone out so we had extensive privacy. Very happy, thank you

Local attractions

The plentiful cycle tracks and footpaths mean it’s easy to start exploring the Isle of Wight’s diverse terrain of hills, woodland and white cliffs framing golden beaches. Not for nothing is this called the Garden Isle: Mediterranean plants thrive in the mild climate, and visitors can expect to spot a wide range of wildlife around and about. It’s no wonder Queen Victoria and her brood decamped here so frequently from smelly London (visitors can check out their seaside digs at Osborne House). Natural attractions aside, the island offers great watersports from its lovely beaches, as well as all manner of other athletic activities, and sights to suit all tastes. Culture vultures should try Carisbrooke Castle or one of the many museums, dinosaur hunters can track down the great beasts that used to roam the shores, fledgling zoologists will enjoy the many animal-based attractions, and that’s before we even get started on the scenic steam railway, glorious botanic gardens or rip-roaring theme parks…
