  • Peaceful, dog-friendly farm site two miles from Moreton-in-Marsh
  • A 10-minute drive to Sezincote Estate; half an hour to Blenheim Palace
  • Firepits for hire; Diddly Squat Farm Shop 15 minutes’ drive
Step into the splendid Gloucestershire countryside and set up camp just two miles from the market town of Moreton-in-Marsh in the Cotswolds National Landscape. With Pebbly Barn Farm as your base, fab, far-reaching views are a given, as is a warm welcome into a peaceful retreat where well-behaved dogs are welcomed on leads and adventures in the Cotswolds are within easy reach… Once you’ve pitched up your tent in the roomy fields here, set off on the walking and cycling trails in the surrounding area (some of them begin very close by). You could make off to Moreton-in-Marsh's antique emporiums, tearooms, art galleries and delis, half an hour’s walk away, or time your visit right for the town’s Tuesday open-air market. With the Four Shire Stone on the outskirts of the town, another option is standing in the old meeting point of the four counties of Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Oxfordshire (cool, huh?) There's also plenty of scope for tasty dinnertimes, with cafés, restaurants and pubs (including a couple rumoured to be past haunts of the author J.R.R. Tolkien) on the town high street and barbecues permitted on site (on a proper stand to protect the grass). The famed Diddly Squat Farm Shop is also 15 minutes' drive away. As for when the sun goes down, there are firepits for hire on site. The facilities here include toilets, showers and a handy dishwashing area, all close to the peaceful pitches. And though it may be rural, you won't be cut off here as Moreton-in-Marsh’s train station has routes to London and Cheltenham, and bus services go to many Cotswold towns and villages.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked Super friendly welcome, very clean site and facilities, great ground and paths. Wonderful dog walk with shade of mature trees and fenced dog field so I could let my hounds relax on their holiday too. Really good location, very quiet, felt off the beaten track but was very convenient for exploring the Cotswolds.

Disliked Being super picky here, the only thing I could think of is the gaps under the gates in the dog field could be an issue for small dogs or escape artists! Maybe add some chicken wire? Apart from that this is a fantastic site, we'll definitely be back.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely and thoughtful review! I'm really glad you and your hounds enjoyed your stay, it’s great to hear the dog walk and fenced field gave them a chance to relax and enjoy their holiday too.

I really appreciate your kind words about the welcome, cleanliness, and peaceful setting, it means a lot. Thank you also for your note about the gates in the dog field. We always value feedback, and it's helpful to know what guests notice during their stay.

And a special thank you for sharing such wonderful pictures of your dogs, it was a real joy to see them enjoying themselves!

It would be a pleasure to welcome you back to Pebbly Barn Farm anytime!

Best wishes,
John

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked Beautiful location and very spacious area which meant you had some privacy around for your tent or camper.
There were adequate toilet and shower facilities in either the outside individual huts or newly built block. Both were always super clean and tidy!! It was great to see a family size washroom for anyone travelling with children or for those requiring wheelchair access.

For BBQs, the owners will drop round a concrete slab to protect the grass from fire in this very summer we are currently experiencing rather than banning them which i know some sites are doing. There are also firepits to hire. This was just another little detail to show the site is all about the customers.

There were bats flying around in the woods that are near to the site, offering a cool display when the sun sets and it was around a 40 minute walk into Moreton-In-Marsh via a quiet single track country road and then on a pavement once you hit the outer village.

Disliked Nothing to dislike, i would recommend this site and hope to visit again 😊
Only 9 out of 10 as nothing is ever perfect!

From the manager: Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review, it really means a lot. I'm so pleased to hear you enjoyed the peaceful space, the flexibility to spread out, and that the facilities met your needs, especially the accessible family washroom.

We’re always happy to provide things like BBQ slabs to save the grass, it’s those little details that can make a big difference, and we’re glad you noticed. The walk into Moreton-in-Marsh is a lovely way to explore the area, and I’m glad you made the most of it.

Thanks again for your recommendation. Even a 9 out of 10 is high praise, and there's always room to keep improving! We'd be delighted to welcome you back to Pebbly Barn Farm anytime.

Best wishes,
John

Liked Toilet and shower facilities. Quiet and spacious

Disliked Grass could be cut shorter in far side of field

From the manager: Thank you for your review and for staying at Pebbly Barn Farm! I'm really pleased to hear you enjoyed the quiet, spacious surroundings and that the toilet and shower facilities worked well for you.

Thanks also for your feedback about the grass. Most of the field is kept cut short, but we do leave some areas a little longer to give guests the option of choosing the type of pitch they prefer, whether that’s neatly mown grass or something a bit more natural. That said, I’ll take a look at the far side to make sure it’s still comfortable for pitching.

We’d love to welcome you back again soon!
Best wishes,
John

Liked Great location, friendly welcome & immaculate facilities, of which there's also plenty to go around too - no queues for the loos! There's also a great dog walking area, including a secure, fenced field for dogs to play! A great site I will definitely visit again & would 100% recommend.

I’m glad the secure dog field was a hit too, it’s something we’re proud to offer for our four-legged visitors.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked Lovely campsite, very big area, able to park up where you choose. Facilities very clean and in good working order. We walked from campsite down into Moreton which took about half an hour. Very peaceful surroundings and good views of the countryside.

Disliked Some solar lighting near the toilet blocks may help at night - but we brought a torch so all good.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review! We're really pleased to hear you enjoyed the space, peaceful surroundings, and flexibility to choose your own pitch. Great to know the facilities were clean and working well, and that you enjoyed the walk into Moreton, it’s a beautiful route.

We really appreciate your suggestion about solar lighting near the toilet blocks. That’s a helpful idea, and we’ll definitely keep it in mind as we look at ways to improve the site.

Thanks again for staying with us, hope to welcome you back to Pebbly Barn Farm soon!

Local attractions

Where can a 10-minute car ride get you? It turns out, a lot of places. There’s the dog-friendly plant centre and café at the 56-acre Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre (10 minutes’ drive), flying displays from falcons, eagles and other birds of prey at the Cotswold Falconry Centre (10 minutes) or the splendid 18th-century gardens at Bourton House Garden (10 minutes). Sezincote House (10 minutes) is another of those close-by spots and a rare authentic Mughal palace with a house and tea room – get there on foot if you wish by following the local Moreton Eight walk near the site. With the World Heritage Site of Blenheim Palace (half an hour) and the National Trust’s Chastleton House (10 minutes) close by too, there are many more options to have a nose around additional historic buildings. When you’re ready for some animal life, Cotswold Farm Park’s rare breeds, outdoor play and bouncy pillows (20 minutes) are likely to be a hit with the kids, or perhaps a peaceful picnic by the river Windrush in Bourton-on-the-Water (20 minutes) will do, with Birdland the prize attraction here.
